We are indebted to Cash Thomas for a manifest The Edinburg and Empire got over all the bars, and arrived about 9 o'clock yesterday morning. The Edinburg has 283 bales cotton for Capt. Fred. Huston, agt-nt of the White line, and VQ for Cincinnati. We are inclined to believe she . will lie up here, as the Silver Spray has done, till there is more water, and we commend the Thompson brothers to the kindly consideration and hospitality of our people. She has splendid pas-enger appointments. For New Orleans. The beautiful new steiiner Lulu D., Capt. Grace, leiv-sf.,r New Orleans and all way ports at 12 o'clo'-k to-day, and being very light draught and possessed cf great carrying capacities affords admirable -oppoituntty for shippers to send thtir freight South. Capt. Grace and Mr. Johnson, her chief officers, are polite and attentive. The Lulu D. was built here by Mr. Ca vender, proprietor of the Dry Dock, and is a high testimonial to his superior ability as a builder, her hull being pronounced by competent judges, oneot the best ever built. She Is H5 feet long, 35 feet heain, with a four foot hold. Her. unusual width of. hull will enable her to carry an extraordinary load on shoal water. She has two boilers 21 feet long and 2t inches in diameter, driving two engines with 12:4 inch cylinders and 4V ,feet stroke, turning a wheel 16 feet in dia ( eter with Wi feet buckets. She Is furnished with a steam capstan and hoisting appatatus, has a full cabin, with tweuty-two plea. . an t and airy staterooms, and a texas with six rooms for the officers Her cabin is plain but very neat, and she is very high bttwtjn the deck, affording room for an imm.-n-e caigo. The indications favor a general rise from Wheeling to Cairo. If we do not get a coal-bo;trise at Pittsburg, we have the consolation of knowing there will be sufficient water to let out light tows of coal from Pomeroy and Hanging Rock, and permit the present steamers loading at Cincinnati for the South to depart in a few days. There is now at least 30 inches water in the Illinois. If it should swell to four feet two inches, large packets will go in. The new steamer Alaska, is loading at Cincinnati for New Orleans. Capt. Oakes superintended her construction, for Jas. Wr. Gaff ami others of Cincinnati.
