Seville, who was born jo 1826, was the original of Byron's "Don Juan." - He expiated the sina of his youth according to popular tradition, which attributes his conversion to miraculous interference, by undertaking a pious pilgrimage, and became illustrious as Ilermano mayor, principal brother of the religious Fraternity whose function it was to drag the bodies of drowned drunkards from the Guadalquivir, and provide for their burial. , He founded the Caridad hospital from his personat'eontributions, and from collected alms, on the site of the Capella San Jorgi. It was built in Greek and Romas 6tyle, on the left bank of the river. He died on the 9th of May, 1679, leaving his epitaph "Here rest the bones of the most wicked man that ever lived; pray God for the salvation of his soul.' LUMBEU, &.C.
