Bronchitis, , Spitting of Blood, ana Pulmonary Affections generally. It it a Remarkable Remedy for Kidney Complaint, Diabetes, Difficulty of oiding Urine, Bleeding from the Kidnegs and Bladder, Gravel and other complaints. 'In November, 1855, 1 first advertised it under the name of White Pine Compound. In two year from that time there had Deen wholesaled in Manchester aioneone hundred thousand dollars' worth, where it took the lead of all the cough remedies in the market, and It still maintains that position. There are good reason for this; 11 is very sooming auu ueauug u , tare, is warming In the stomach, amd pleasant withal to the taste, and Is exceeding cheap. i- - " As a remedy for kidney complaints the White Pine Compound stands unrivaled. It was not originated for that purpose ; bat a person in using it for a cough was not only cured of the cough, but was also cured of a kldnev difficulty of ten years standing. Since that accidental discovery, many thousands have u-ed it for the same complaint, and have been completely cured.'1-5 -' ' ", THE WHITE PIJTE COMPOUND. 'it whji pari v In thasDrinit Of '52 that this compound was originated. A member of j my family was afflicted with an irritation of the tftroat, attended with a disagreeable cough. I bad for some months previous thought that a preparation Having for its basis the inside bark of White Pine might be so compounded as to be very useful in diseasesot the Throat and Lungs. To test the value of It in the case alluded to, I compounded a small qaaptiiy of the medicine that I had been planning, and gave it in tAiumcraifuI doses. The result was ex ceedingly gratifying. Within two days, the irritation of tne throat was removed, the cousin subsided, ana a speeay cure was The above was writen by Dr. Poland ir 18ti0. Since then, aa in A.anchester, thi White Pine Compound has taken the leac of all cougu remedies, as wen as propar. tions for the cure of kidney difficulties, ii every city, town, village, and hamlet throughout the New England States. . if RAILROAD 00. " Their-FIRST 3I0STCf.tC:F. C' AS AX I35YKSTHEXT. The rapid progress of the tTnio;i PnjSc Railroad, now bolldlng west from Oixv.i-j., Nebraska, and forming, with its western connections, an unbrosen line across the continent, attracts attention to the va.ue of the nrst Mortgage Bonds which the Company now offe- to the public. The first question asked by prudent investors Is, "Are these bonds secure ? " Next, "Are they a profitable investment?" To reply in brief: 1st. The early completion of the whole great line to the Pacific is as certain as any future business event can be. The Gov ernment grant of over twenty muuon acres of land asd fifty million dollars in its own bonds practically guarantees It. One-fourth of the work is already done, and the track continues to be laid at the rate of two miles a day. 2d. The Union Pacific Railroad bonds are issued upon what promises to be one of the most profitable lines of railroad in the country. For many years it must be the only line connecting the Atlantic and Pacific; and betng without competition. It can maintain remunerative rates. 3d. Four hundred and twenty-five miles of this road are finished, and fully equip ped with depots, locomotives, cars, sc., and two trains are daily running eacn way. The materials for the remaining ninety-two miles to the eastern base of the Rocky Mountains are on hand, and it is under contract to be done in September. 4th. The net earnings of the sections already finished are several timet greater than the gold interest upon tne irsi Mortgage Bonds upon such sections, and if not another mile of the roaa were onai the part already completed would not only pay interest and expenses, dui De prontable to the Company. 5th. The Union Pacific Railroad bonds can be Issued only as the road progresses, and therefore can never be in the market unless they represent a bona-fide property. 6th. The amount is strictly limited by law to a sum equal to what is granted by the U. 8. Government, and for whicn it takes a second lien as ita security. This amount upon the first 517 iniles west from Omaha is only S16,oeo per mile. 7th. The fact that the U. S. Government considers a second lien upon the road a good investment, and that some of the shrewdest railroad builders of the country have already paid in ,flve million dollars nnon the stock (which is to them a third ma v well insDire confidence in a first lien. i sth. AUhnnzh it fc. not claimed that there can be any better securities than Governments, there fare parties who con sider a first mortgage upon such property as this the very bes6 se-urity in the, world, and who sell their Governments to re-in-iTDsr. in these bonds thus securing a ereater interest. 1 8th. As the Union Pacific Railroad bonds are offered lor the present at 90 cents on the dollar and accrued Interest, they are the cheapest security in the market, being nioie than. IS per cet-less than U., S. stocks. . ; ' 10th. At the current rate of premium on gold, they pay , - . , ' . Over Nine per Cent. Interest. The daily subscriptions are already large, and they will continue to Te received in New York by the . ; Continental National Bank, - ; No. 7 Nassau Street; " Claek, Dodgk & Co., Bankers, " - . . .. . 51 Wall Street; John J. They will also be sent by mall from the Company's oflSce, No, SO Nassau Street, New York, on application. Subscribers will select their own Agents, in whom they have confidence, who alone will be responsible to them for the safe delivery of the bonds. - JOHN J. CISCO, Treasurer, NEW YORK.
