Orders left with either ol the wharf-boats will be promptly, attended to. Weather Riid Water. , The weather Saturday was mild and , clear, with no sjjus of rain a right pleasant-Autumn day. The river had risen two , inches during the 24 hours ending at three O'clock Saturday, and -was rising steadily. Arrivals anl nepsirtures: The arrivals and departures up to three o'clock on Saturday were tie News Boy, Henderson and return; Phantom, Eastport to Kvansvilie; Ollie Sullivan, to Owensboro. Boats Iue. Among the first boats due here are the Linton and Chattanooga, from Cairo, Cobb-Webb, fioin Cumberland, and James Gray, from Green River. Miscellaneous. , Business was rather light on the levee Saturday morning, with but one arrival the Phantom, from Jast port outside the short local packets. The Phantom had a moderate trip, and experienced great .' difficulties and irksome detentions by low water is the Tennessee, which is down to low-water mark.,- Captain Duncan is not decided as to the time of his departure. The Ollie Sullivan left for Owensboro before noon, with a fair packet trip...... Neither the Cora S. nor the Saceess had arrived up to noon to-day, nor had we any advices from either of ' he Cairo pack- , ets, further than .that the Brandeis had arrived at Cairo Thursday evening, and it was hardly possible for her to get In In time to go out on Saturday. ..,.The prospects of a material rise In the Ohio are by no means flattering. We must have heavy
ard general rains or snows on the. upper tributaries first, of which there are now no signs whatever. ; Doats LeavinsTo-Diiy. "
For Cairo. It Is rather uncertain what boat goes to Cairo, to-day, as there is considerable irregularity at . present. We Shall not be surprised, however, to see both the Fanny Brandeis and the Louisa, ! with flags flying. Both are good boats, , anil officered by pleasant gentlemen, and ? generally manage to make about the same
time to Cairo and back. . Fo-E Owessbobo, The Ollie Sullivan, neat and light, will leave for Owensboro, at 10 o ci(.ck this morning. Captain J. Kaiu Throop and Les. Ware are her popu lar officers. Fok Hesdebsos.-To-day, and hereafter, the elegant and ever punctual packet, "Newsboy, will leave for Henderson, at 3 o'clock p. m., promptly, iu order to land her passengers at Henderson in time for early supper. Captain Perkins Is anxious to accommodate his patrons, and will leave promptly on time. Gleanings from nr ExebRn$ren. Pittsburg. The Commercial of Thursday says: Another change in the weather, but not for toe better. Yesterday wa a clear, bright dxy. The rise has been again postponed. The only excitement about the landing was the great boat race between Coulter and Alekiel, a full report of which will be found in our local columns. Above the bridge business was active, with p enty of freight for the upper part of the Alouongahela, Dispatches iroia the headwaters of the Alleghany say the raic is over for the present. There will be no rise until we have more rain. The following boats are to constitute, a regular line from Cincinnati to New Orleai s: Leonidas, Emma No. 3, Wauamta, Ezra Porter, Silver Cloud No, 2, .Messenger, Maggie Hays and Kenton. Cincinnati. The Commercial of Friday says: .: , 7 - The weather was mild and clear yesi terdav. with the wind from the west. At w PiKnourg.-tlie river-was rising last night, with two feet in the channel. Clay Richmond will form a Independent line on his own hook. Messrs. Kobinon & . . Mi.sm U wete appointed agents lor the fc'x:j j rei Ln.e, and we hear it- intimated, that Captain John A. Williamson hasbeen tendered the geneial superintendence of the same. Louisville. The Courier, of F.ilay, says:( . , -f,i, - 4 . 5 . Tue river was slawly falling Syesterday, with 28 inches water in the canal in the evening, by t tie mark. During the previous 24 hours it bad fallen an inch at the head of the falls aud 3 inches at Portland. The weather continues cloudy and murky, and was wintry cold in the morning, though milder in the evening. . Yesterday afternoon, as per announcement, the new Green River packet building in place ottbe Plain City, for the ller- - chants1 Line, was most beautifully and successfully launched from the ship-yard of Nadal & Son, on the Point. A large gathering of people attended the launch, 1 and all were well pleased with in successful accomplishment. Wine and wil flowed f reel v, and Captaia Coombs, the veteran . boatman, did tue honors of the occasion, and as the new craft glided iuto the water he christened her with a bottle of pure V. wine as the Falls City. The Fails City will be brought to the ' ' wharf to-day. ' She draws but 1.1 inches at ,'the stern and 12 Inches at the bow. 4 ' St. Louis. It is a pity that the tonage and the water are not sufficient for the amount of freight offering on the upper rivers for St. Louis. We continue to hear from St. Paul, Dubuque, 6c, of embarrassments from sand bare ana fogs, and a good deal of shivering from very cold weather. Here It is warmer, with the river again slowly on thedicline, and therlverslightly .. improved above and below. ; ; New Orleans. The Times, of Tuesday, says: " ' - - - -1 Yesterday the morning was cloudy, and the appearances were that we woul.i have more rain doring-the day, but no rain fell, though the clpuds were visible all day. The Gen. Quitman brought in to-day 2,149 bales of cotton, and the Mary E.
