Santano. bead Chief of the Kiowas, and the leading man of the Southern Indiana, expressed objections to leaving the plains and being "confined to a reservation. He claims all lands south of Arkansas River as belonging to the- Ktowaa and Caraanchesj and that they did not want to give any ol them away. The next day, however, the Kiowas and Camancbes made a treaty with'tb Commissioners, its provisions being the same as those of the treaty made at Little Arkansas, two years ago, with the exception that the agricultural 'reservation "is ' set apart for them on the Miama branch of Red River, near the Wauchita Mountains, where those can go that choose. They are permitted to hunt on iteir ancient Jandssouih of Arkansas River. Saotaao protested strongly against going into houses, like the whites, but finally signed the treaty." ' , -
