' Complete Revolution in Roofing!, " " THE PLASTIC SLATE" Por IloofiDgauJ other, purposes. Patented February 21st, 1805. . THIN 1TKKS1IS BISCOVEKY was ni'nde known to the world by tha Farmers' Club of New York, at their meet-, ing In tne latter pact of June, and' its Importance to our country and thewoiid was earnestly discussed; but the Inventor, William L. 'Potter.of Clifton Park, N. Y., has been carefully experimenting with the material for many years, aud has demonstrated Its utility and practicability. After suffering many partial failures in compounds of lime in all its various forms and phases in sand, granite, plaster, mineral coal, clay of various kinds, . marbledust, soup-stone, cement,, coal-tar, vegetable tar, asphaltum, etc. in all the propoitionsand combinations that an intelligent and inventive mind could suggest, lor fourteen years. He tried the slate-stone, also, in many combinations, beiore hediscovered that nature's iaw ol recoustruction was exceedingly simple, requiring only gluten to hold the particles in connection till time and the action of tha elements firmly unite them. If e-er a roof leaks, it will be owing to other causes than the decay of the covering. It will be because the water goes round, not thrmighlt. It is unequaletl a a paint over new tin, and would preserve it many years without further attention, and should be used for that purpose instead of paint. It will repa'.r ail defects in oldtin roofs, such as rust-holes, cracks, and breans, matting them permanently waterprool, and move durable, nt much less cost, than a tin-smith could afford to do it, eve' in his imperfect, manner. Old roofs of every description can be repaired much more durably and cheaply with Plastic &7"ethan with any other material extant-Coal-tar is found to be the viscious element alike of coal and slate; and it was discovered, not invented, and scientific invest location, as well as experience, fully establishing tiie fact that its exposure to heat and cold, wet and drr, serves ouly to reconstruct the two elements in their condition .Sui.in Slate. PLASTIC SLA TE IS SUPERIOR to TIN. 1. Bt cause it is a better non-conductor of heat. The rooms under it will be cooler in summer and warmer In winter. 2. It will not rust. 3. It will not break or crack open like tin does wnere jointed. 4. It is lessdangerons. Tr. Tyng's church. xue of t he 11 nest in New York, was burned in November, lSU-ca using a loss of Si1),Ooo, from a fire in its tin roof, from the braziers of some mn who were repairing it; . 5. It needs no painting, which on tin amounts in a few years to the entire cost Of Plastic State Roof. ' 6. Because it costs half ax much, and lasts twice as lanu. i . I have, at considerable expense, obtained from "The Plastic Slate Joint Stock Compauy, of New- York," an exclusive right or Eva'-vrile'aud Vanderburgh County, Ind., at im prepared to put on new roofs and repair old tm roofs, repair tin, zinc ar.dcopp . gutter?. Present price for new Plastic Slate Roofs eight dollars per square of ten feet; same applied to new or old tin roof, lour dollars per square. Outiers repaired at reasonable rates as to size; and at t hese prices all work will be kept in order (accidents excepted) (ire years, at the expiration of which time t will be better than when new. We have the privilege of referring to the following parties for whom we have applied tiie Plastic Slate itootin: R. S. Tenny, Esq. : John .1. LeiS. Ksq. ; Messrs. Reitz and Haueyj Win.
