Wk call the attention ol the business public to the snp.-iioi- facilities of the JouHMAi.Job office for executing all kinds Of Meica ni lb- printing wit h neatness and dispatch. ( mlers from abroad sent through the merchants of this city will receive prompt attention. Advance In QnicnHirare. Queensware has advanced East already twenty-five per cent., and may go to one huudred. -HI. ImuU Democrat, 'HMh. II may well be asked what 1 the cause of thl large advance, when tbe general tendency of price 1 downward. The explanation 1 partly contained in the Cable dispatch of Saturday, that the laborer in the Engllh potteries had struck for higher wage, and that the manufacturer had closed up their works. How long this state of things will continue we can not now tell. The particular by steamer may throw some further light on the matter. But that a large and permanent advance .Will be maintained lor a considerable period, there can be no doubt. Thl staple commodity, the product of Staffordshire, a single dlRirlct In England which supplies not only nine-tenths of the stock for the United States, but the great bulk that Is used throughout the World, seems destined to remain scarce, and consequently high, regardless of the ups and downs of gold. Since the close of the wur every manufactory has been pushed to the utmost lo supply the demand, and the or ders have accumulated from the United States, Mexico, South America, Australia, and other points, in this condition of the trade this strike has taken place and the potteries have censed work, it U Mated that the Potters' Union (the laborers' asso ciation) has a large fund on hand, and are prepared for u long siege. There Is but a small amount of ware manufactured in this country, and that of an inferior quality. The suspension of tbe English potteries may lend to greater perfection and extension In the United States; if so.lt will result In substantial benefit to us. While the general rule Is that the price ot Imported goods 1 affected by the rise and fall of gold, the line of Quceiiswure mnt,tn a great measure, be the exception, In view of the present strike on the part of the workmen, the large order unfilled, which are lUleoii mouths behind, and the light slock now In this country. Being Inform ed of this statu of tho market, we took a look In upon otir liuecns ware houses yes terday to ascertain the stocks ou hand and the feeling of our merchant as to advancing pric. s. We were gratified to Item that they were all In possession of full stocks, mid well assorted. We have heretofore noticed the addition of another wholesale house to this line -of trade In this elty the past season, and that no department of our wholesale business was better sustained than this. We alluded yesterday to the receipt of a large invoice, a direct Importation from Liverpool The same house has its sale rooms and warehouse crowded with goods. Anot her of our most enterprising firms has oyer four hundred crates and pack ages now In store in tills city, and have re" oelved Invoices of one hundred and twenty-five already lu the ocean ; and their order have been accepted and it 1 led for three hundred and eighty crates In addition, which will be shipped by the 1st of Jauuary ; making a total by one house alone of over nine hundred package. We think there are few houses lu the West who can make a better showing of stock. Our merchants have not advanced their quotations, and are busily engaged In Ailing orders at the old puces. Their trade now embraces not only Southwestern Iudlaua and Illinois and Western Kentucky, but It reaches Into Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama. Western and Southern merchants will find, upon visiting our queeusware houses, that lu this department K v. i i is villi- can compete, not only with any city in the West, but lu any part of the country. Boston Snoe Market. The Boot and Shoe market exhibits no feature of interest.- Trade from first bands is very qu et, and confined to small lots for sorting up stocks. Western orders, In the bauds of manufacturers, are mostly tilled, and the seasonable production is reduced to a very small compass. The continued mild weather has the effect to delay the distribution and consumption of goods; Ut stocks 111 toe hands of the trade are moderate anil will all be wanted. (Commercial Bulletin, 17th. New York Dry Goods Market. By Telegraph. New York, Nov. 21. There are more hopeful signs in the Dry Uood market this morning than for the lost six weeks. The extreme low price of almost all kinds of goods and the steadiness and ftrrauesN fn the cotton market gives well fouuded hopes that prices have at last touched bottom. This is apparent from the Increased demand for the leading kinds of goods. Buyers are evidently satisfied that goods are as low as tbey will be at present and are entering the market lor supplies.
