CORRESPONDENCE.

From Ptke County. Pctkkshuho, Ind., Nov. 2, I860. Editors Journal: Just now the people of our quiet little town are exercised about horse thieves, that highly esteemed class of individuals having committed some depredations by way of " fighting for their rights." A few nights since, one borrowed a fine horse from Mr. Thomas Montgomery of our place, and forgot to say any thing to Mr. M. about it; but that would not be noticed if he would return the horse. I suppose, however, he will demand admittance into society without guarantees for the future, as people are disposed to forget and forgive. Mr. M. will no doubt open his arms and receive his erring brother back, and bury the unpleasant affair among the thinks of the past. In addition to the above, a fullblooded negro has had the impudence to eoine among us and set up abarber shop. The faithful are very; raueh exercised about the affair, and a they owe their late defeat from a want of1 negro capital, they ne doubt will take courage and go to work for the next canvass. It is thought by sofie that this is a trick of the Democratic party to get votes, for there were no negroes in our county until this sable sort of Africa impudently squatted anjfoug ur. The tobacoo orop is well houned, Hid for our county we have a very good orop. The late heavy rains damaged ottr corn, but not to the extent that Was at first anticipated. There is a large amount of hogs being fatted for the market, more perhaps than has been in this county for years. We have not had the cholera yet, but wo are looking for every minute to he the next. The Journal is gaining favor daily, and bjr the 1st of January, we hope U have the Daily and Weekly well circulated throughout the county. Yours, &c, Filo. Official Returns or the First District. THE LATEST AND MOST IMPORTANT DISCOVERY OF THE 19TH CENTURY. HAN'S SAME IN MOKE In timately connected with the history of Materia Medica in tn united states, or more lavorabiy known as a pioneer ot of Mai medical discovery, than mat 01 DR. JOHN BULL, of Louisville, Kentucky His inimitable preparation of Barsaparllla has long stood at the head of the various compounds of that valuable drug. His Compound of Wild Cherry has become a household word throughout the West and South. His Worm Losenges, in less than a year after their Introduction, attained a reputation as wide-spread as the continent of North America. But the crowning glory of bis life remained to be attained in his latest discovery, or rather combination, for he does not claim to be the discoverer of CEDRON, which la the basis of the Bit ters now offered to the public. That honor belongs to the native Inhabitants of Central America , to whom its virtues have been known for more than two hundred years. Armed with it, the Indian bida defiance to the adat deadly malaria, and handles without fear the moat venomous serpents. It is a belief with them that while there la breath left In the body the CEDRON is potent to cure, uo matter what the disease may be. While Dr. Bull Is not prepared to indorse ibis extravagant pretension, be Is neverthsless satisfied, from a thorough examination of the evidence relating to its virtues, that as a remedy and preventive for all diseases arising from exposure, either to changes of weather and climate, or to the miasmatic influence. It stands without a rival, and Justly deserves the reputation it has so long enjoyed lu Central America and (he West Indies. in DYSPEPSIA, and Its attendant train of symptoms, it acts more like a charm than a medicine. There Is nothing In the range of Materia Med' that can for a moment bear a comps i with it In this disease. A full account of tMs wonderful plant may be found in th eleventh edition of the U. S. Dispensato: , ou pages 1887 and mm, A series of experiments, in which Dr. Bull has been for years engaged, has lust been brought to a successful termination, and he Is now enabled to offer to the pnbltc a combination of Odron with other approved tonics, the whole preserved In the beat ouallty of copper-dlstllled Bourbon Whlskv. which he Is confident lias no equa in the world. He might furnish a volume of certificates, but the public baa long since learned to estimate sucn tilings at tfiolr trna vulniv The xaf'est Ulan is lor every one to test for himself the virtues of a new meuicme. Give the (.'ED RON BITTERS one trial,, and you will never use any others. It la not necessary to publish a long list of diseases of which the Cedron Bitters are a specific. In all diseases of the Stomach, Liver, Kidneys, or Bowels: In all Affections of Uie Brain, depending upon Derangement of the Stomach antTBoweU: in Gout, Rheumatism, and Neuralgia, and In EEVER AND AGUE, it Is destined to su persede all others. It not only cures these diseases, but prevents them. A wlneglassful of the Bitters, taken an hour before each meal, will obviate the ill effect of the most unhealthy climate, and screen the person taking it against diseases, under the most tryiug exposure.
