Titus suddenly drew a pistol, which Monroe caught, but it was discharged, the ball passing through Monroe's arm, near the shoulder. The Sixth Anual Fair ot the St. Louis Agricultural aud Mechanical Association opened to-day, ami jpronfises to be' a grand success. All departments are well filled, aud entries are still being made. A large amount of stock of all kind is on the ground, aud some very fine horses aud cattle arc there from nearly every Western State. The grand feature of to-morrow will be the exhibition iu the amphitheatre of ninety thorough bred' horses, now hbre to attend the Loclede mco, with their riders in full racing dress. The Board of Commissioners of the Atlantic k Pacific Railroad Co. met here to-day, and organized the Com i organi or Johu pany ty electing John C. rrei President, D. R. Garrison, of Fremont of St. liOins, vice rresi dent, and Cbas If. Howland, St. Louis, Secretarv. There was a large attendance of commissioners, representatives' from twelve States aud one Territory being present, and the meeting was entirely harmonious. The Capital, St. LmiU, and the West were strongly represented, and much zeal was manifested in regard to this great enterprise, which, its projectors and friends aver, will be the first constructed railway to tho Pacific Ocean.
