Orders left with either of the wharf-boats will be promptly attended to. River and Weather. The weather continues cloudy and cool, with some rain yesterday morning. Mercury 65 at noon. At Pittsburg the river is rising, with 3 feet in the channel. At Cincinnati it is falling, with 6 feet on the shoalest bars to Louisville. Here it had risen about 1 foot durine the twentv-fonr hours ending at three o'clock yesterday. It will be found fulline: this morninv. There is 6 feet on the shoalest bars from Louisville to Cairo. Arrivals and Departure. The only arrivals and deoartures no to three o'clock yesterday were the Nash ville, Cairo and return, and Newsboy, Henderson and return. Boats Doe. Among the first boats due here are the Sherman and Harry Dean, for Memphis; Camelia and Talisman, from St. Louis ; Kate Robinson, from Memphis; Argosy, from New Orleans; Navigator, Silver Spray, Armadillo and Argonaut, to New Orleans ; Charmer, from Cairo; Nightingale, for St. Louis; Van Buren, for Arkansas River; Tarascon and J. T. McCombs, from Louisville. Mlftcellaneoun. Business was dull on the levee yesterday morning, with scarcely any arrivals The Nashville had a very slim trip yesterday morning, but had a fair prospect of a good trip out The Newsboy had a fair trip up We saw yesterday at the copper and sheet iron work-shops of Nichaus & Blckman, one of the tops of the new smoke-stacks of the grand Armada. It is a perfect beauty, the design of that distinguished artist, Capt. J. V. Throop. The top is about five feet high, with a ring around its base, about six feet in diameter, then flares out gracefully, and culminates with a massive ring at the top, eight feet in diameter. The stacks will be forty feet high above the breeching, and thirty feet above the hurricane deck We were pained to learn yesterday that J. V. Throop was sick, but hope he is not seriously ill. Boats Leaving To-Day. For Cairo. The Phantom will light out at 3 o'clock to-day for Cairo and all way ports. Capt. Tom Boluss is in command, and Charley Irwin is in the office. Char ley is polite and attentive, and makes his passengers comfortable. Billy Hass has charge of the freight department at pres ent. For Louisville. The grand Tarascon, Captain Jim Lusk, is the regular mail boat for Louisville this evening. She is a grand floating nalace. John Ouerbacher is her passage ;lerk. Arthur Field and Billy Stephenson are her distinguished freight Clerks, and Dabney Page is her unexcelled steward. Everybody travels on the Tarascon, and her passengers live like princes. Cleanings from Oar Exchanges. Cincinnati. The Commercial of Thursday says : The weather was cloudy and mild yesterday with rain during the morniug, and the mercury ranging at 76 degrees at noon. At Pittsburg t.e river is rising, with S feet in the channel. The Kanawha is stationary, with 30 inches in the channel. Here the river is receding slowly, witn six feet on the shoalest bars hence to Louisville. The Abeona re-shipped her Memphis freight on the Sherman yesterday, and wlil not return to Memphis until next week. Capt. J. S. Wise, Superintendent of the Nashville and Cincinnati Packet Company, is refitting the Rowena. Rebecca, Emma Floyd and Havana for the coining season. As soon as the Cumberland Is navigable, the steamers of this line will be on the track again, with new outfits and flying colors. ( Louisville. The Courier of Friday says: The river was falling last evening, with five water in the canal by the mark. During the previous twenty-four hours it had fallen four inches at the head of the falls, and one foot at Portland. The weather was cool yesterday, the thermometor at noon ranging at 78. On the falls last evening there was three feet water in the pass down the Indian chute, and slowly falling. The river was expected to fall almost as suddenly as it had risen, as the late rains had not been general, or of very long duration. If the rise had exterded along the Kentucky river, or to the mountains, a good tide would have followed. The Democrat of Thursday says : The Rose Hite being aground, there is no Sacket for Henderson to-day. Captain i I more. Head Center of the line, has gone aown witn a lot oi unicago lottery ucKets in his hat to see if he can't draw Rose off. He wants her. We never heard of Chicago Concert tickets drawing anything. St. Louis. The Democrat of Thursday sayB: The rives lias risen slightly here. An unexpected and considerable rise has taken place in the Ohio. Dubuque paDers note n continued' decline, but some of the side streams below that point have swelled. There is water enough tor the Northern Line packets to get to Prescott, near St. Paul, with their usual regularity. On Tuesday the Illinois had risen two inches at Naples. The lower Missouri has probably swelled from the Gasconade and Osage. Whatever improvement takes place in the rivers is not expected to last more than a very few days. Passenger traffic Is increasing on the rivers to and from St. Louis, and business is improving. The weather has become delightfully cool. The Keokuk packet brought yesterday a bigger trip of people than she has had for a month past. A good deal of excavation and blasting is going on at the come of Vine Street and the Levee, and we expect to hear of some one getting hurj, from flying rocks. One as big as a chapea'u broke through the roof of the steamer Lexington yesterday, and fell on a chair, in which, luckily, no one was sitting. Capt. Ed. McPherson, having a premonition of danger, had just risen from the chair. By the act he escaped something worse than a brick in his hat. Memphis The Appeal of Tuesday says: Since our last issue the' weather has continued very warm. Business has been very bull, and the river has continued to fall. The Mississippi at St. Louis, and the Ohio at Cincinnati and Louisville, are falling. Arkansas river dose not improve, but continues to recede. New Orleans. The Times of Tuesday says: The atmosphere throughout the greater part of yesterday was very close, and at times the sky became cloudy and threatened rain. It, however, did not rain after all. Business on the landing was about as dull as it could be without a total suspension. There were few arrivals or departures.
