Laying the Corner Stone of tub German Methodist Church. The ceremony of .laying the corner stone of the German Methodist Church, being erected ' on the corner of Vine Street and the canal, took place yesterday afternoon. The ceremony was commenced by the reading of a portion of ' the Discipline b Rev. Gottleb Trefz after which there; was singing and prayer. . Rev. Mr. Simmes then delivered an able and interesting lecture, in the Engliehs language, appropriate to the occasion, after which Rev. Mr. Fisher spoke eloquently in the German language, as we were informed by those who could understand him. .' He was followed by Rev. G. Trefz, pastor of the Church, who also delivered an able lecture, after 5 which he proceeded to deposit, in the box to be placed in the corner stone, the following articles : The Bible, then a Metho-' dis.iUymn Rookji and Methodist D:sc:plin,- a Centenary Book of Methodism, a copy of the Western Christian 'Advocate; German Apologist, German Methodist Almanac for 1865 and' 1866, a copy of the Evansville Jo URN Alt, and Evansville Union specimens of gold and silver coin, and

United States paper currency ; a statement containing 'the' names of! the building committee,'1 preacher j in charge, the local preachers and trustees, and a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation of "Abraham Lincoln. The ceremony closed with singing t hot prayer. . . . ,,.v ; 1 ' The church edifice, the! foundation walls' of -which-? are already up, is to be 53 by 90 feet, with a tower over 100 high. We understand that ! the work will be pushed forward' -completion air the? earliest,, day . possible,' and when completed it will be -a fine ediiice. ; The basement ; will be used for Sabbath' School purposes, and is also divided into class and lecture rooms.!' rTwq Bodies;, Found. A Copperhead office-holder of this County, a few days ago', was' seen to tear down " one of the bills calling a soldiers' meeting, on the 19th instant. This is decidedly the smallest of all mean things we ever knew a Copperhead to be guilty of, even the meanest of all mean Copperheads? If they had not all been orig'nai secessionists, or had not, been leaders in the rebellion ? He said they had. His questioner cent nued: "Now, sir, if no such feeling exists in that State as you say is represented North, how is it that no or g rial Union mea, or men who had all the while favOred the old Government, were e'.eatei to Congress by your people? If your peop'e are really sincere," why do- they not select such men as our people feel they can trust in legislating upon, the affairs of the Government?
