RIVER NEWS.

' River and Vnttutrtmn'Tm' Yesterday morning opened bright and clear, but there was a strong breeze blowing, which continued all day, driving light and dry clouds across the firmament, and keeping the water in the river in a tumultuous motion. The river has risen over one foot during the past twenty-four hours, but will most probably be found at a stand this morning, as it has been declining at Louisville for the past thirty-six hours. Arrivals and Departures.

' 1 There was but little life or animation on j the levee, yesterday, and even the regular I 'packets left with slim trips. A strong wind blew all day, and no doubt detained ' boats now due. The river was very rough. ......... The Silver Moon had a good trip, and " passed up early on Monday night. She discharged' 66 bales of cotton at this port, consigned to R. K. Dunkerson & Co.. Agents of the famous: Bellelontaine Coon Express r.TFie Armada had a very good up trip, and was full of people. She is the unrivalled packet for Cairo this afternoon. Capt. Jay Vee was complaining yesterday, ' but will, well ope, be all correct to-day i. J'.. The Phantom and Argosy were eompara- ' tively light. The Phantom left for the Wabash yesterday. The Argosy returns to Nashville at noon to-day. . left with a'inorterate trip, but had good'eiigagements below, and would fill out The Ella Faber did not bring in a large , cargo.-.....The Mary Ament had a respect' able trip both ways ...The steamer Ada Lyon will be sold, en the 5th of May, at Nashville, by the United States Marshal. She is' nearly new, and in good condition.... Capt. Gus. Dusouchet, Fred. Huston, Billy Dunn, and Frank Collins, of this city, will go out on the Armada to-day as far as Mt Vernon. Thence they will transport a life boat, and will be themselves transported, as they should have been long ago, across the country to New Harmony, and then they will launch their boat on the bosom of the pearly and classic Wabash, and float gently down to . the grand chain, where they encamp for a few days to fish and hunt. Capt. Gus. sayj they are going to get game. They will get It honestly, if they can but they are going to get game, If there are any barn-yard pheasants inv that regionwe would kindly hint to the owners to keep them housed for a few day, as the weather promises to be un healthy for them. The Armada is the regular mail packet, and should be well patronized. For Locisvillb. The brave Tarascon, Captain Jim Lusk, is the regular packet for Louisville this evening.
