MISCELLANEOUS.
Scrofula, or Kinc's Evil. is constituional disease, acorrnption of the blood by which this fluid becomes vitiated, weak and too'-. Being ia the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst out in disease ia that part of it. No organ ia free from its attack, nor la there one which it may not destroy. The scrofo lous taint is caused by mercurial disease, low living disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and flltby habits, the depressing: vices, and, above all. by the venereal infection. Whatever be its origin. It J hereditary In tbe Constitution, descending trom parents to children, unto the third and fourth generation ;" indeed, it seems to be the rod of Him who says, "I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children. " Its effects commence by deposition from the wood of cotmpt or ulcerous matter, which, in the l!ios, liver, and internal organs, is termed tobercles ; in the glands, swellings ; and, on the suriace, eruption or sores. This fool corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the enV i ' acromions constitutions not only snffer from scrofulous complaints, bat they have far less power te withstand the attacks of oiueraieeases; consequently vast numbers perish by diserders which r although not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint u V" syem. most of tn consumption" which uecimsies tne unman family hits its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination ; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of ail the organs, arise from or are asgravate i by the same cause. . se 7 One quarter of all onr people are scrofulous ; their persons are invaded by this lurking infection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system w must renovate the blood by au alterative medicice, and invigorate it by healthy lood and exercise, tfuch a medicine w supply a. yers's - Compound Extract of SarsaparHIa, the most effectual remedy which tbe medical skill of our times can devise for this everywhere prevailing and fatal malady. It is combined from the nun, acuve remeaiais mat have been discovered for, the expurgation of this foul disorder from the Diooa, and the rescue of tbe system from its destructive conseouencee. Hvnm itahnnM l ..iD . ed for the cure" of nor only Scrofula, but also those. anecuons wnicu arise ircm it, such as Ehcptivb and Skis Diahast.. Ht luTumt'i Vid Bos, or JCBYsirens, Pimples, Piistcles, Blotch! m, Blaiks, and Boilbs, Tukobs, Tetter and Salt iiiUMjuMlAL xise&srs, uaopsr, IEBiLm and, indeed, all Coxflaists ssisiHarBOH V mATCD OR ImPDBE BLOon. Thi nn,il lli-f ia "imeanVsof tlublood" is fnnn,l,,l In truth, f,.e scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The par ticular purpose and virtue of this Sarsaparilla is to purity and regenerate this vital fluid, without which Bound health is jmoesible in contimiiuiul constitutions. 212 53 ' 53 mll Z JWM FOR TBB SPEEDY CCBK OF Intermittent Fever, or Fever and Aaue. Re. mittrnt Fever, Chill Fever. Dumb A riodical Headache, or Bilious Headache, and cutout fevers, indeed, for the whole class of aiseases originating in biUary derangement, caused ly the Malaria of Miasmatic Countries. We are enabUd here to offer the community a remedy which, while it cures the above complaints with certainty, ia atiU perfectly harmless in any quantity. 8uch a remedy is invaluable in districts where .these afflicting disorders- prevail. This "Cubb" expels the miasmatic poison of Feveb aub Ague from the system, and prevents .the developments of the disease, if taken on the first approach of its premonitory symptoms. It is nr only the best remedy ever yet discovered for this class ot complaints, but also the cheapest. Th large quantity we supply for a dollar brings it within the reach of everybody; and in bilious districts, where Fevkb and Aoug prevails, everybody should have it and use it freely, both for cure aud protection. A great superiority of this remedy over any other ever discovered for tbe speedy and certain cure oflotemiitlenta Is that it contains no Quinine or Mineral, consequently it produces no qmnism or injurious efleets whatever upou the constitution. Those cured by it are left as healthy as if they had never had the disease. ver aud Ague is not alone the conooquence of the miasmatic pui.-ou. A great variety of disordreas arise flow its irritation ; among which are NeHT.dtiti, Rhrutuatum, Gout, Hatdacne, Blindnem, TootWc.-, A'uracae, Caittrr, Atthnia, 1'aipiiat.on, Faiyul AWKttim nf the Spleen, ByVerict, Fan, in lh BoikIi, Coin; ParatyM and Iraxgemeni of the Stomncl;, all of which, when originating in tins cause, put on the intermittent tiipe, .r become periodical. This " Ore " expels the poison from the blood, and consequently cures them all alike. It is an invaluable protection to immigrants, or persons travelling or temporarily residing in the malarious districts. . If taken occasionally or daily while exposed to the infection, that will be excreted from the system, and cannot accumulate iu si;Qicieut quantity to ripen into disease. Hence it is evsn more valuable for protection than cure, and few will ever suffer from Intermitteuta if tbey avail themselves of the protection this romedr afford. Prepared by Dr. J C.
