Scrofula, or King's Evil.
is a convtituional dise-ise, a corruption of the blood by which this fluid becomes vitiated, weak and poor. Being in the circulation, it pervadss the whole body, and may burst ont ia disease in that part of it. No organ is free from its attack, nor is there one which it may not destroy. The serf) fa Ions taint is caused by mercurial disease, low livin g disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, tilth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all. by the venereal iu faction. Whatever be its oriciu, it is hereditary in the Constitution, descending " from parents to children, unto the third and fourth generation ;" indeed, it seems to be the rod of Uim who says, " I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children. " Its eflecta commence by deiweition from the Mood of corrupt or ulcerous mat ter, which, in the lungs, liver, ami internal urgnng. is termed tuber cles; iu the (lauds, swell ins ; and, ou the surface, eruptions or sores. . This foul corrup tion, which (renders in the blood, denresaes the en ergies of life, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaint, but they have :"ar less power to. witusUuid the aiutcks or other diseases consequently vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrolulous in tneir nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint iu the system. Host of th9 consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofolons contamination ; and many destni.:tiv diseases of the liver, kidnejs, brain, and, indeed, of ail the organ, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all orr peopla are scrofulous ; their persons are invade-i by this lnrkinfr infection, and their health is unde -mined by it. To cleanse it from the system we ml st renovate the bluod by an alterative medicice, an 1 invigorate it by healthy food and exercise.. Buch a inodiciue we snnolv in J3k- ycrs' s Compound Extract of SarsaparHIa, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this everywhere prevailing and fatal malady. It is combined from the most active remedials that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder li oua the blood, and the rescue of the system from its destructive consequences. Hence it should be employed tor the cure of not only Scrofula, but also those other affections which arise frt.m it, such as EucpTtvif and Skin Diskabeh. Si. The popular belief In "impuritpof the blood " is founded iu truth, for scrofula is a defeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsapariila is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible iu contaminated constitutions. We are enal.l -il here to offer the community a remedy which, while it cures the above complaints with certainty, is still perfectly harmless iu any quantity. Such a remedy is invaluable in districts where thi'Se afflicting disorders prevail. This JURK " expels the niiuaiualic poison ofFBvsa ab AotiK from the system, aud prevents the developments of the disease, if taken ou the first aiproach of its premonitory symptoms. It is not only the best remedy ever yet discovered for this class ot complaints, but also the cheapest. The lar;e quantity wo snooty lor a dollar brings it within the reach or everybody; and in bilious districts, here Fever and Auuk prevails, everybody should have it and nee it freely, both for cure and protection. A great superiority of this remedy over aiy other ever discovered for the sedy aud certain cure of Iutermittenta is that itcoutains no Di-inin.. or Miueral, consequently it produces no quinism or j ujuiioiis enec wuatever nKn inn conntil iition. Those cured by it are left as hualthy as if they had never had the disease. Fever and Ague is not alone the coiiateouonre of the miasmatic poison.
