NEW ADVERTISEMENTS. =======
Scrofula, or King's Evil. is a constitnional disease, a corruption of the blood by which this fluid becomes vitiated, weak, and poor. Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst out in disease in any part of it. No organ is free from its attack upon is there one wbtch it may not destroy, r&e scrofj lous taint Is caused by mercurial disease, low living I disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy hab ts, the depressing vices, and, above all, bv the venereal infpetion. Whatever ha its origin. it is hereditary in the Constitution, descending j " from parents to children, unto the third and I fourth generation ;" indeed, it seem, to be the rod j of Him who says, "I will visit the Iniquities of the j fathers upon th&ir children. " Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the j lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed tuber- i cles; in the glands, swellings; and, on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of lite, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but they have far less power to withstand the attacks of other diseases ; consequently vast n ambers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint iu the system. Most of the consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination ; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous ; their persons are invaded by this lurking infection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system we most renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and iuvigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply yres's Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this everywhere prevailing and fatal malady. It is combined from tbe most active remediate that have been discovered for the expurgation of this font disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system from its destructive consequences. Hence it should be employed for the cure of not only Scrofula, but also those other affections which arise from it, such as Earptivb and Skin Diseases, St. Anthony's Fme, Ross, or Erysipelas, Pimples, Pustules, Blotches, Blai.ns, and Boiles, Tumors, Tetter and Salt Rueuh, Scald Head, Rinowo&m, Rheumatism, Syphilitic and Mercurial Diseases, Dropsy, Debility and. indeed, all Complaints arising trom Vitiated ob Impure Blood. The popular belief iu " impurity of the blood" is founded in truth, for scroiuia is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsaparilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in contaminated constitutions. CURE. FOR THE SPXXDT CUBE OF Intermittent Fever, or Fever and Ague, Remittent Fever, Chill Fever, Dumb Ague, Periodical Headache, or Bilious Headache, and Bilious Fevers, indeed, for the whole class of diseases originating in biliary derangement, caused by the Malaria of Miasmatic Countries. We are enabled here to offer the community a remedy which, while it cures the above complaints with certainty, is still perfectly harmless in any quantity. Such a remedy is Invaluable in districts where these afflicting disorders prevail. This " Cube " expels the miasmatic poison of Fevbb, axd Ague from the system, and prevents the developments of the disease, if taken on the first approach of its premonitory symptoms. It is not only the best remedy ever yet discovered for this class ot complaints, but also the cheapest. The Urge quantity we suoply for a dollar brings it within the reach of everybody ; and in bilious districts, where Fkvkb sn Aguc prevails, everybody should have it and use it freely, both for cure and protection. A great superiority of this rgRjgdj oyer an: 2S5i TSSSStf&E "O qninlsm or injurious effects whatever upon the constitution. Those cured by it are left as healthy as If they had never hac the disease. Fever and Ague is not alone the consequence of the miasmatic poison. A great variety of disordreas arise from its irritation ; among which are Neuralgia, Rheumatism, tfoui. Headache, Blindness, Toothache, Earache, Catarrh, Asthma, Palpitation, Painful Affection of the Spleen, Hysterics, Pain in the Bowels, Oolic, Paralysis and Derangement of the Stomach, all of which, when originating in this cause, put on the intermittent type, or become periodical. This " Cube " expels the poison from the blood , and consequently cures them all alike. It is an invaluable protection to immigrants, or persons travelling ur temporarily residing in the malarious districts. . If taken occasionally or daily while exposed to the infection, th.it will be excreted from the system, and cannot accumulate in sufficient quantity tu ripen into disease. Hence it is even more valuable for protection than cure, and few will ever suffer from Intermittents If they avail themselves of the protection this remedy affords. Prepared by Dr. J C. HAAS, having leased the rooms formerly occupied by Dr. Kivett, in Dr. Bray's building, opposite the Post Office, for a series of years, would respectfully solicit tbe citizens of Evansville and tbe surrounding towns and country, to visit bis rooms and see the specimens on exhibition, whether they need the services of a Dentist or not. Since tbe issuing of his hut circular and advertisement, over a year since, several improvements and new inventions have been made, ef which he has availed himself, and allows nothing that will subserve the interests of his patients, to pass unsecured. His facilities are better and establishment larger, without doubt, than any other in our State, and equal te any in Eastern cities. All those who need Dental operations performed, and are pleased with his work, shall be attended to with great pleasure. The following are the styles of work manufactured by him: Continuous Gum; Block or Carved Work: Vulcanite Base; Coralite; Amber; Cheoplastic; Gold and Silver work. Nething can excel the beauty and cleanliness of the continuous gnm work. It is without a seam or crevice. Cheeks that are sunken car. be restored to nearly their original contour by this style of work, and also by the use of the Vulcanite, Coralite, and Amber Base. The latter styles, for lightness and adaptation to difficult mouths, excel anycels anything we hayo ever seen. He has several anaesthetics for alleviating pain when extracting teeth. They are perfectly harmless. The most delicate can have them applied. He does not advertise anything he cannot do, nor exhibit anything not made by himself. Parents should consult the health and beauty of their children by having tbe Dentist direct their second dentition, thereby producing sy miaetry anrt health to those invaluable organs. Irregularity of children's teeth corrected sue osssTully. Those having decayed teeth, should either have them extracted or filled at once (the latter if possible). The health of the parties and the remaining teeth demand this. W I take pleasure! in introducing Dr. Haas, my successor to the old rooms in Bray's buildini;, hoping he will find them both pleasant and profitable From my intercourse with the Doctor, I am pleased to find him one of the progressing ; possessing taste and higb professional ability and standing. With this view, I can, with safety, recommend him to the community as a skillful and competent dentist. (inaj-28) J. KIVETT. IRISH STEAMSHIP LINE. Steam Between Ireland & America.
