Specimens or Secessional School Books. Vanity fair having discovered a want is resolved to supplj it. Oar, seceding brethren want food for the roung mind free from the abolition virus, and we have accordingly prepared a series f geographies, spelling books, grammars, kcn in which every idsa is a native of the Sunny South, and therelore appropriate io the Southern sonnies. Our caveat is entered with the excellent JeQ FKOM OCR SoCTHHtN GkOGBaPHY. Socth Couolixa. A vast empire, bounded on the north by the Arctic Ocean, east by Fort Sumter, Bouth by the Tortugas, and west by the Tacific. The population is illimitable, the productions inculcable, its resources inexhaustible. The people are happy Ihk.wiso tbo Belter Half of themselves are slaves. Its chivalry awes the world by valiant deeds ; its navy defies the battle and the breeze. Prodi-ctioxs. -South Carolina produces chattels of every shade, to suit the taste of the purchaser. Diseases. The prevailing disorders are violent Uetches and Sicksession. A Dr. JacksonVon.ee invented a cur for these complaints. Literature. The standard literature Is high. The Charleston Mercury, the journal of the Western world, is renowned for the purity of its English and the elevation of its morals. Its circulation ia enormous. It justly holds every man a traitor who does not steal from the United States Govern. ' laent.
How O'Uoxxkll Sold 51a. Rcssell, thb Timks Man. The Mr. Russell who now represents the London Times here, is the eame gentleman sent by that journal to Ireland to report O'Connell's speeches, daring the Iiepeal agitation. One of the first meetings the man attended was in Kerry. Having heard of O'Connell's polite qualities, he thougnt he would ask that gentleman's permission to take a verbatim account of the oration. The "Liberator" not only consented, but, in his oiliest manner, informed the assembled audience that "until that gintleman was provided with all writin' convaniences, he wouldn't spake a word,'' assuming an extra brogue, which w3 altogether unnecessary. Kussell was delighted. Tuo (.reparations began, aud were com
pleted. Kussell was ready. "Are you quite ready ?" asked
"Quite ready." "Now, are you sure you're ready." "I'm certain, Sir. Yes." The crowd becoming excited patient, Dau said: "Now, 'pon
science I won t begin the speech till
London gintleraan i3 intirely ready.", Atter waiting another moment or so, O'Connell advanced ; eyes glistened ; ears were nil attention ; and the reportorial pencil arose. Dan gave one more benignant smile at the correspondent, winked at the anditors, and commenced his speech in the Irish language, to the irrepressible horror of the present editor of the Army and Navy Gazette, aad to the infinite delight of all Kerry.

HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BITTERS.
r BTUt Mi PJtOPRIHTOHN JJ1 fJft--1 nfacturersof HOSTETTER'S CELEBRATED
STOMACH BITTERS can appeal with perfect con
fidence to physicians and citizens generally 01 tns
United States, because tne article nas aiiameu a refutation heretofore unknown. A few facts upon
this point will speak more powerfully than volumes of bare assertion or blazoning puffery. The consumption of Hostetter's Stomach Bitters for the last year amounted to over a half million bottles, and from its manifest su ..dy increase in times past.
it is evl.leut that dnring the coming year, the consumption will reach near one million bottles. This immense amount could never have been sold but for the rare medicinal properties contained in the
preparation, and the sanction ot the most prominent physicians in those sections of the country where the article is best known, who not only rec
ommend the Bitters to their patients, but are ready
at all times to give testimonials to Its emcacy iu
all cases ot stoniacnic derangements ana me diseases resulting therefrom.
This is not a temporary popularity, obtained by extraordinary efforts in the way of trumpeting the
qualities ot the Bitten, but a souu estimation 01 an invaluable medicine, which is destined to be as en during as time itself. Hostetter's Stomach Bitters have proved a God
send to regions where fever and ague and various
other biPous complaints nave counieu tneir victims by hundreds. To be able to state confidently that the "Bitters" are a certain cure for the Dyspepsia and like diseases, is to the proprietors a so n res of unalloyed pleasure. It removes all morbid matter from the stomach, parities the blood, and Imparts renewed vitality to the nervous sys
tem, giving it that tone and energy indispensable for the i ..iteration of health. It operates npon the
stomach, liver, and other digestive organs, mildly but powerfully, and soon restores them to a condition essential'to the healthy discharge of the liinctions of uatnre. Elderly persons may use the Bitters daily as per directions on the bottle, and tbey will find in it a stimulant eciiliarly adapted to comfort declining jears, as it is pleasant to the palate, invigorating to the bowels, excellent as a tonic, and rejuvenating
generally. We have the evidence of thousands of
aired tm-u and women wno nave experienced tne benefit of usius this preparation while suffering fro:u stomach derangements and general debility ; acting under the advice of Physiciaus, thev have abandoned all deleterious drugs, and fairly tested the merits of this article. A few words to the gentler sex. Th-re are certain periods when their cares are so harrasginK that maity of themsink under the trial. The relation of mother and child is so absorbingly tender, that the mother, especially if she be young, is spt to forget her own health in her extreme anxiety for her infant. Should the period of maternity arrive during the summer season, the wear of body and mind is generally a?;ravated. Here, then, is a necessity for a stimulant to recuperate the energies of the system, and enable the mother to bear up under her exhausting trials aud responsibilities. Nursing mothers generally prefer the Bitters to all other invigoratois that receive the endorsement of physicians, because it is agreeable to tho taste as well as certain to give a permanent increase of bodily strength. All these persons to whom we have particularly referred above, to-wit: euSerers from fever and ague, caused by malaria, diarrhoea, dysentery, indigestion, loss of appetite, and all diseases or derangements of the stomach, superannuated inva lids, persons of sedentary occupation, and nursing mothers, will consult their own physio,' Afare by giving to Hoatetter's Celebrated Stomach Bitters a trial. CACTIOK. Weratitiou th-, public against unng uoyottbe many imitations or nterfeits, but ask for Ho?tettlb"s Celebrated sJTOMACif Dittkes, and see that each bottle has the words "Dr. J. Hostetter's Stomach B'tters" blowu on the si'j. of the bottle, aud stamped ou the metallic cap covering the cork, and observe that our autograph signature is on the label. nju Prepared aud sold by Hostctteb A Smith, Pittsburgh, Pa., and sold by all druggists, grocers, and dealers generally throughout the United States, South America, aud Germany. bovlS-d&wlawlyr

His facilities are better and establishment larger, without doubt, thau any other in oar State, aud equal teany iu Eastern cities. All those who need Dental Ofierations perforuted, and are pleased with his work, shall be attended to with great pleasure. The following are the styles of work manufactured by him: Continuous Gum; Block or Carved Work; Vulcanite Base; Coralito; Amber; Cheoplastic; Gold aud Silver work. Nothing can excel the beauty and r1eanlines of the continuous gum work. It is w ithout a s am or crevice. Cheeks that are sunken can be restored
to nearly thttir original ci.ittour by Ihia style .'f ! work, and also lv the lis, of the Vulcanite, Coral- 1 I to, aud Amber Rase. The latter styles, for light- I ness and adaptation to diflieiitt months, excel anycels anything we have ever hwii. He has several ana-si hetii s for alleviating pain when extracting teeth. Thev are pertectly harmless. The moiit rielU ate can have thein applied. He does not advertise anything he cannot do, nor exhibit ail) thing not luado by himself. Parents should consult the health aud beauty f their children by having the Dentist direct their second dentition, thereby producing symmetry and health to those invaluable organs. Irregularity of children's tooth corrected sue cessfully. Those having decayed teeth, should either havs them extracted or tilled at once (the latter If possible). The health of the parties and the remaining Teeth demand this. C i I take pleasure iu introducing fir. Haas, my successor to thr old rooms in Bray's building, hoping he will find them both pleasant and profitable From my intercourse with the Doctor, I am pleased to find him one of the progressing ; possessing taste and high professional ability and standing. With this view, I can, with safety, recommend him to the community as a skillful and competent dentist. (maj-K) J. KIVETT. HBIKTIAN K BAT55 WM. BKICKAN KRATZ & HEILMAN.
