A curious little anecdote respecting the Prince of Wales has caused considerable merriment at Cambridge daring the last few days. It is said that in anticipation of a visit from the Prince to the noble chapel of his college, the chief of the establishment of which, for obvious reasons, we forbear giving the name directed the verger to give bm notice of the arrival of his Royal Highness. After waiting some hours in a state of fearful suspense, the reverend gentleman sent for the verger : Has the Prince been announced ?" he aekeJ. " No, your honor," quoth the verger. " And you are quite sure, verger?" " Hi ham ; there has been nobody to see the chapel bonly a hold gentleman wot 'as brought 'is son hup to college." A description of the old gentleman and his son followed, and the master of the college soon became convinced that tbey were no other than General Bruce and his Royal Highness, who had been quietly and unceremoniously inspecting the noble building. " Well, what then ?" said the landord, recovering. " Why, I struck him agin the corner of the shelf and he brake hisself all to pieces."

HOSTETTER'S
STOMACH BITTERS.
rWTtUJS I'HOl-HI KTOHfi Jf-Jt -f
JM. ufacturersof HOSTETTICR'S CELEBRATED
STOMACH BITTERS can appeal with perfect con
fide nee to physicians and citizens generally of the
United States, because the article baa attained
reputation heretofore unknown. A few facta npon
this point will speak more powerfully than volumes of bare assertion or blazoning puffery. The consumption of Uostetter's Stomach Bitters for the
last year amounted to over a hall million Dottles,
and from its manliest etc ..ily increase in times past,
it is evident that daring the oomlnsr year, the con
sumption will reach near one million bottles. This immense amount could never have been sold but for the rare medicinal properties contained in the
t reoarat ion . and the sanction ot the most promt
nent uhvslcians in those sections of the country
where the articlo is best known, who not only recommend the Bitters to their patients, but are reuHy
at all times to give testimonials to its emcacy in all cases of stomachic derangements and the dis
eases resulting tuerelroni.
This is not a tmnporary popularity, obtained by extraordinary efforts in the way of trumpeting the qualities of the Bitters, but a solid estimation of an
invaluable medicine, which is destined to be as en during as time itself. Uostetter's Stomach Bitters hnve proved a God
send to regions where tever and ague and various
other bil'ous complaints have counted their vfc
finis by hnndreds. To be able to state confidently
that the "Bitters ' are a certain cure lor tne Dys
pepsia and like diseases, is to the proprietors a
source of unalloyed pleasure. It removes all mor
bid matter from the otomach, purifies the blood,
and imparts renewed vitality to the nervous system, ci vine it that tone and energy indispensable
for the restoration of health. It operates upon the
stomach, liver, ana other digestive organs, mildly but powerfully, and soon restores them to a condition essential to the healthy discharge of the functions of nature. ,
Elderly persons may uso the Bitters daily as per directions an the bottle, and they wilt find in it a
stimulant peculiarly adapted to comfort declining Years, as it is pleasant to the palate, invigorating
to the liowels, excellent as a tonic, and rejuvenating
Kenerally. We have the evidence of thousands of
aged men and women who have experienced the benefit of iii.ing this preparation while suffering from stomach derangements ami general debility ; acting under the advice of Physicians, thev have abandoned all deleterious drugs, and fairly tested the merits of this article. A few words to the gentler sex. Tleir are certain periods when their cares are so harrassing that many of themsin k under the trial.. Thu relation of mother and child is so absorbingly tender, that the mother, especially if she be young, is apt to forget her own health in her extreme auxiety for her iufaut. Should the period of maternity arrive during the summer season, the wear of body and mind is generally aggravated. Here, then, is a necessity for a stimulant to recuperate the energies of the system, and enable the mother to bear up nnder her exhausting trials and responsibilities. Nursing mothers generally prefer i!ie Bitters to all other invigoratois that receive the endorsement of physicians, because
It is agreeable to the taste as well as certain to give
a permanent increase ol houily strengtn.
All those persons to whon wo have paricularly
referred above, to-wit: sufferers from fever and
ague, caused by malaria, diarrmca, dysentery, indigestion, loss of appetite, aud all diseases or de-
reDgements of the stomach, superannuated inva
lids, persons of sedentary occupation, and nursing
mothers, will consult toeirown puysice "ntare by
giving to uostetter s celebrated btomach Bitters a
trial.
CAUTION. We caution the public sgainst using any of the many imitations or uterfeits, but ask lor Oostettcb's Celebrated S tdsacs Bittkrs, and Bee that each bottle has the words Br. J. Uos

DR. HAAS, having leased the rooM formerly occupied by Ir. Kivett, in Dr. Bray's building, Opposite the Post Office, for a series of years, would respectfully solicit the citir.ens of Evansville and th surrounding tewns and country, to viait his room and see the specimens on exhibition, whether (hey need the services of a Dentist or not. Since the issuing of his last circular and advertisement, over n year since, several improvements and new inventions have been made, of which he has availed himself, aud allows nothing that will subserve the interests of his patients, to pass unsecured. His facilities are bi tter and establishment larger, without doubt, thac any other in our State, and equal tnanyin Eastern cities. All those who need Dental operations performed, and ar pleased with his work, shall be attended to with great pleasure. The following are the styles of work manufactured by him: Continuous Unm; Block or Carved Work; Vulcanite Base; Coral ite; Amler; Cheoplastic; Gold and Silver work. Nething can excel the beauty an1 cleanliness of the continuous gum work. It is without a scam or crevice, ('l.eeks that are sunken can be restored to nearly tlndr original contour by this style of work, and also by the ux of the Vulcanite, Coralite, and Amber Base. The latter styles, for lightness and adaptation to ditlicnlt mouths, excel aDyeels anythiug we have ever seen. lis has several ana-stheli. s for alleviating pain when extracting teeth. Thev are perfectly harmless. The inoiit del ic ate can have them applied. lie does not advertise anything he cannot do, nor exhibit anything not made by himself. Parents sliould consult the health and beauty (4 their children by having the Dentist direct thei' second dentition, thereby producing symmetry and health to those invaluable organs. Irregularity of children's teeth corrected successfully. Those having decayed teeth, shonld either have them extracted or tilled at ouce (the latter if possible). The health of the parties and the remaining teeth demand this. - I take pleasure in introducing Dr. Haas, my successor to the old rooms in Bray's building, hoping he will find them both pleasant and pr citable From my intercourse with the Doctor, I am pleased to find him one of tne programing; possessing taste and high professional ability and standing. With this view, I can, with safety, recommend him to the eominnnitj as a skillful and competent dentist. (nwv'il J. KIVETT.
