Prentice Paragraph. Itisjustljheldto be a great crime to steal a nigger or even mulatto, and yet the secession leaders of New Orleans kidnapped 100,000 "yellow boys" at once. The secessionists assert that the Union cannot be maintained by force. Are they quite sure that it can be dissolved by force ? The Charleston Mercury says that the secession leaders are as noble a set of men as have lived in any age. It is possible that
some oi mem may iuru uui myit-an .v gentlemen. A Mr. W. W. Hunt, of Alabama, announces his desire to " incur the responsibility " of taking office in the new Confederacy. He seems to be an impersonation of what we have heard of so often the . " wild Hunt after office." A Georgia paper predicts that the navy of the Southern Confederacy " will soon rival that of England." Well, when Kentucky wants to bear, as a member of the Southern Confederacy, her proportion of the terrific expense of a navy equal to that ofEngland, and wants to bear a good many other things that we need not now enumerate, she will probably go into the secession business. A South Carolina editor strenuously objects to our suggestions that he and his fellow traitors be hung with grape-vines. Let them be hung with rattle-snakes then. We see no indications of a better condition of feeling between Louisiana and South Carolina. It is not at all improbable that the pelican, which subsists extensively upon serpents, may one of the3e days deposit the rattle-snake in his pouch, and, as he is an obscene bird, defile the palmetto. A jolly chap at sea, having been seized with sea-sickness, was asked how he felt. " Feel !" said he, and there was an unmistakable earnestness in his eye ; " feel ! Why, I feel as though I harp but two objects in life, now. One is to put my foot once more on terra fir ma ; and the other, to find out and whip the fellow who wrote " Life on tho Ocean Wave 1" A very loquacious lady offered to bet her husband five pounds' that she would not speak a word for a week. "Done!" cried the delighted husband,1 instantly putting down the money, which the lady as soon took up and put in her pocket, observing, naivly, that she would secure it until the bet was decided. " Why," said the husband, " I have won it already;" and required her to pay over. "Not at all," SGbid the lady ; "you are mistaken in the time I mean the weak after I am burried!'' The lady went a shopping that same afternoon.

MOUNTAIN HERB PILLS.
Above wo present you with a perfect likeness o Tezuco, a chief of a tribe of the strange Aztec Nation, that once ruled Mexico. You will find a full account of him in our pamphlets and Almanacs to be had gratis from the Agents for these Pills. The inventor and manufacturer of "Judson's Mountain Herb Pills " has spent tho greater part of hia life in traveling., having visited nearly every country in the world. He npent over eix years among the Indians of the Rocky Mountains and of Mexico, and it was thus that tLc Mountaiu Herb Pills" wer discovered. A very ic u.-resting account of his adventures there you wii hrd in our Almanacs and Pamphlets. It is anustul l iked fact that all diseases arise from IMPtTRU BLOOD! The blood is the lii'e; and when any foreign or unhealthy matter gets mixed with it, it is at once distirbuted to every organ of the body. Every nerve feels the poison, and all the vital organs quickly complain. The stomach will not digest the food 1 erfectly. The liver ceases to secrete a stifficiency of bile. The action of the heart is weakened, and so the circulation is weakened. The lungs become clogged with the poisonous matter; hence, a cough and all from a slight impurity at the fountain head of life tho Blood I Aa If you had throwB some earth, for instance, in a pure spring, from which ran a tiny rivulet iu a lew minutes the whole course of the stream becomes disturbed and discolored. As quickly does impure blood fly to every part, and leave iu sting behind. All the passnges become obstructed, and unless the obstruction is removed, the lamp of life soon dies out. These Piils not only purify the blood, but regenerate ull the secrttious of the body. Tbey are, therefore, unrivaled as a CUKE FOR BILIOUS DISEASES, Liver Complaint, Sick Headache. Ac. This AntiBilious Medicine expuls frem tho blood the hidden seeds of disease, and renders all the fluids and secretions pure and fluent, clearing and rvsuiicitating the vital organs. Pleasant, indeed, is it to us, that we aro able to phice within your reach a medicine Hke the "Monutain nerb Pills," that will pass directly to the aflVcted parts, through tho blood and fluids of the body, and canse the safferer to brighin with the flush of beauty and health. Judson' , Pillsare the best remedy in existence for the faliov ing complaints: Bowel Complaints, Comrhs, Oolds, Chest Diseases. Costivcnojs, Dyspepsia, Diarrhoea, Dropsy, Debility, Fever and Ague, Female Complaints, Headaches, Indigestion, Iutluenza, Inflammation, Inward Weakness, Liver Complaints, Lowness of Spirits, Stone auc, Gravel, Piles, and Secondary Symptoms. GREAT FEMALE MEDICINE I Females who value health, should never be with out these Pills. They pnrity the blood, remove obstructions of ull kinds, cleause tho skin ol all pimples and blotches, and bring the rich color of health to the pale cheek. The plants and herbs of which these Pills are made, were discovered, iu a very surprising way, among the Tezucaus, a tribe of Aborigines in Mexico, Get the Almanac of onr Agent, and vou will read with delight the very interesting account it contains of the "Great I.Iedinine" of the Aztecs. HOSTETTER'S
STDMACHBITTERS.

-M. nfacturersof HOSTETTER'S CELEBRATED
STOMACH BITTERS can appeal with Den'ect con
fidence to physicians and citizens generally of the
I nitect Mates, because the article has attained
reputation heretofore unknown. A few facts upon
tins point win speak more powerlully than vol
umes of bare apportion or I 1 rouing puffery.. The consumption ofllosletter's Stomach Bittern for the
last year amounted to over a half million bottles,
and from its nianilest steady increase in times past
it is evnient i:i:it during me coming year, tne con
sumption will reach near one million bottl?s. This immense auionnt could never have been Hold but for the rare medicinal pro)orties contained in the
preparation, ami t lie sanction ot the most promi
uent physician in those sections of the country where t li; article is best known, who not only recommend the Bitters to their patients, bnt a-e ready
at all times to give ti Nt:m.iii, iis to its etticacy in all cases of stom-ichic derangements and the diseases resulting therefrom. This is not a temporary popularity, obtained by extraordinary efforts in the way of trumpeling the
qualities ot the Hitters, but a solid estimation ot an
invaluable tuedicin', which is destined So b? as en during as time itself. Hostetter's Stomach Bitters have proved a God
send to regions where fever and ague and various other bilious complaints have -counted their vic
tims by hundreds. To be able to state confidently that the "Bitters" are a certain cure for the Dyspepsia aud like diseases, is ti the proprietors a
source ot unalloyed pleasure. It removes ail morbid matter from the stomach, purines the blood,
ana imparts renewed vitality to tne nervons sys
tem, giving it that tone and energy indispensable
tor the testoration of health. It operates tixm the
stomach, liver, and other digestive organs, mildly but powerfully, and soon restores them to a condi
tion essential to tho healthy discharge of the functions of nature. Elderly persons may use tho Bitters daily as per directions on the bottle, and they will fini in it a stimulant peculiarly adapted to comfort declining years, as it is pleasant to the palate, invigorating to the bowels, excellent as a tonic, and rejuvenating generally. We have the evidence of thousands of
aged men and women who. havo experienced the benefit of using this preparation while sutf-ring from stomach derangements and general debility , acting under the advice of Physicians, thev have abandoned all deleterious drugs, and fairly tested tho merits of this article. A few words to the gentler sex. There are certain jieriods when their cares are so harrassing that many of them sink under the trial. The relation of mother aud child is so absorbingly tender, that the mother, especially if she be young, is apt to forget her own health in her extreme anxiety for her infant. Should the period of maternity arrive during tho summer season, tho wear of body and mind is generally aggravated. Here, then, is a necessity for a stimulant
to recuperate the energies of tbe system, aud enable the mother to bear up under her exhausting trials and responsibilities. Nursing mothers generally prefer tho Bitters to all other invigorators that receive tho endorsement of physicians, because it is agreeable to the taste as well as certain to give a permanent iucre;ise of bodily strength. All those persons to whom we have particularly referred above, to-wit: Hiitlerers frori fever and ague, caused by malaria, diarrhcea, dysentery, indigestion, loss of appetite, and all diseases or derangements of the stomach, superannuated inva
lids, persons of sedentary occupation, and nursing mothers, will consult their own physical welfare by giviug to Hostetter's Celebrated Stomach Bitters a trial. CAUTION. We caution tho public against using any of the many imitations or counterfeits, but ask for Hostettf.k's Celeuratkd Stomach Hitters, and seo that each bottle has the words "Dr. J. Hostetter's Stomach Bitters" blown on the side of the bottle, and stamped on the metallic cap covering the cork, and observe that our autograph signature is on the label. Prepared and sold by Hostetter Sl Smith, Pittsburgh, Pa., and sold bv all druggists, grocers.
and dealers generally throughout the United States, South America, and Germany.
