We learn tint they have been discussing: matters pertinent to the Surrey Department of the State, and have framed bills to present to the Legislature, making provisions for a Survey Department, and extending provisions to the minute details of the County Surveyors official duties. This is a move in the right direction. Not only bectuse there is necessity for laws governing surveys, but that the Surveyors of the State, of all others, as a body of disinterested men, are best able to devise laws calculated to do equal justice to them all, and secure a uniform and proper method of determining boundaries. By a resolution of the Convention, the bills are to be introduced to the Senate through Messrs. Newcomb and Conner; and to the House by Messrs. Jones, Edson and Frazier. Indianapolis Journal. AMERICAN WATCHES MADE BY THE AMERICAN WATCH COMP'NY, AT WALTFIAM, MASS. Attention is invited to the following statement and the accompanying lutters of recommendation and testimonials, in favor of these celebrated Watches. A Gold Medal was awarded this Company by the American Institute at New York in 1867. The Company also received the first premium a gold medal from the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, in IS08. These Watches have been in market for nearly ten years, during which time they have been tested as to accuracy, durability, and reliability in every conceivable manner, and have proved themselves to be the most satisfactory time-pieces evei offered to the public. This result lias been brought abont by a strict application of mechanical science to the construction of the Watch from its very inception, reoder'ng it when finished, mathematically correct In all its proportions, and necessarily as perfect a timepiece as it is possible to make. Tho Company bava tested their Watches y many inntances, by actroil daily noting, and the esult of this test has beeu that they have exhibitd a rate equal in regularity to the best marine bronometer. From the Prairie Farmer, Oct , 18C0. American Watches. Nearly a year ago, were ceived from Messrs. It was set on i:,at .lay, and its variation from true time to the l'Jth of February, Iii9, when I let II run down, was ten seconds fast. As our Watch is now extensively ounterreited by foreign manufacturers, we have to n form the public that no Watch is of our production which is unaccompanied by a certificate of genuineness, bearing the number of the watch, and signed by our Treasurer, ft.
