BOATS LEAVING TO-DAY.
Gen'l Anderson, Pad.; Grey Eagle, Louisville; W. V. Gillum, Green River. ——— ......The River continued to recede rapidly up to dark last night. ......The Weather, yesterday, was cool and cloudy, with indications of snow. Business was quite animated prior to the departure of the packets. The Dunbar, Grey Eagle, and D. B. Campbell all left with fair trips. ......The " huge" Grey Eagle will leave
for Louisville this evening at her usual hour. Capt. Daniels and Mr. Duval will be found at their respective posts, prompt to attend to the wishes of passengers, and see that they are comfortably provided for. ......The swift Gen'1 Anderson, which has been gaining laurels recently, for speed, will leave for Cairo, to-day at noon. We copy a notice of a trip made last week, which was unavoidably crowded out last week owing to the President's Message. ......The D. B. Campbell left yesterday with a magnificent cargo of groceries for our Kentucky friends, purchased in this place. ......The W. V. Gillum, we understand, was chartered last evening by some Kentucky merchants to convey goods which they had purchased in our city, up Green River. Notwithstanding the tough times our merchants appear to be disposing of some of their goods. ......The Lue Eaves, having contracted to bring 200 hhds tobacco out of Rough Creek, put in most too heavy a load at the outset and got aground. She is likely to stick until a rise takes place. ......The Gen. Anderson, which left here Tuesday, at 2 P. M, with over a two hundred tons freight trip, and the mail for all the way landings, was back at the wharf
Thursday, a little after 10 A. M. She left Cairo Wednesday afternoon, making the run in 18 hours running time. This is good time for a business trip, and the Captain says he can come through in 14 hours, and challenges any of the packets to try her time. ......The Submarine No. 6 made her appearance again, yesterday, having the boiler and other fixtures of the Tempest on board. The boilers were placed on the Little Grey Eagle. The Submarine fastened on to P. G. O'Riley's wharf-boat, where it intends remaining tor further orders. We trust, in the meantime, that the waters will subside sufficiently to permit the boat to be pumped out. The water has already receded so that only a portion of the lower deck is covered, and if the river continues to decline as it has done, the Submarine can soon commence operations. ......The following items we clip from the N. A. Ledger: ......At last accounts the Ben McCulloch was reported aground on a log in the Forked Deer river, and in danger of being broken in two by the rapidly receding water. Capt. J. B. Ford's new and fine steamer, building for the New Orleans trade, is progressing finely, and will be launched one day next week. Her cabin is closed in, wheelhouses up, and most of her machinery ready to go on board. With fair weather she can be completed in about a month or six weeks. Capt. V. B. Moody, who has had charge of the office on the B. J. Adams, ha3been engaged as purser. ======= RAILROAD RECE1PTS.
