O.; Gen. White, Henderson. ——— ......The River was rising all day yesterday, having swelled about eight inches during the day. The dispatches show the state of the river at points above. PITTSBURG, Nov., 30.—River 10 feet 6 inches by the pier mark and falling slowly. Weather cloudy and damp. ......The weather, yesterday, was exceedingly windy during the early part of the day, but became calmer in the afternoon. The sky was overcast with clouds and there was every appearance of a coming snow storm. ......The Fanny Bullitt left Louisville yesterday and will be down this afternoon. Our fellow-townsmen, Gus. Lemcke and [missing]onald Fisher, will be aboard to do the agreeable to their friends and patrons. Any person who wishes to send freight or take passage South can find no better opportunity than on the Bullitt. She is a nice and staunch boat, and runs like a race-horse. Besides, she is owned in Evan3ville, and de-
erves the patronage of our citizens having business in the South. Be ye ready, therefore, for the Bullitt. ......The "Big" Grey Eagle, one of the nest [sic] packets afloat, will be at the landing this evening with shingle out for Louisville. Capt. Daniels, an experienced boatman, will be in command and Mr. Duval in the office. The Grey Eagle is the boat on which to take a trip to Louisville. ......The Anderson is the regular Paducah mail packet today on arrival of the cars. Her accommodations are said to be excellent. ......The sprightly Lue Eaves departs for Green river this evening. Capt. McDonald will be found in command, and a clever commander he is. ......The D. B. Campbell left Thursday evening with a moderate trip and the mail. ......The Submarine No. 6 arrived on Wednesday night and immediately took position alongside the wharf-boat and commenced operations. Thursday being Thanksgiving day, a large crowd, having nothing in particular to do, crowded both the wharfboat and the Submarine in order to witness the manner of proceeding in raising a boat. After spending most of the day in getting ready, the pumps were set going about 4 clock in the afternoon. They were kept at work about half an hour, but it was discovered they made no impression on the water in the hold, it running in from the river an fast as it was pumped out. The job is abandoned by the bell boat until the river falls sufficiently to let them get at the holes in the hull just below the outriggers.— When these are stopped, raising the boat will be but a few minutes work. The quantity of water thrown by the pumps of the Submarine is about 800 barrels per minute. We regret the accident to Capt. P. G. O'Riley, who seems to be pursued with misfortune during this year. The freight on board had to be moved and yesterday several drays were so employed. ......From the Paducah Tri-Weekly Herald of the 29th we learn that the Clipper, the boat that sunk in the Cumberland river on the 24th, has been raised, and when the May Duke passed her was raising steam for the purpose of resuming her trip to Cincinnati. The Glenwood, which parsed here yesterday, had on [sic] pumps to raise the Clipper, but it seems that the latter has got along without this aid. ......The Henderson brass band came up on the Gen'l Anderson on Thursday morning and gave some of our citizens a seranade [sic] just about the break of day. They performed very well, and elicited a good many commendations from those who had the pleasure of hearing them. ......The Hon. John Bell is now building at Pittsburg a new and powerful towboat for the purpose of towing coal from his Tradewater Mines to Nashville. This boat is to wear the name of Marine Dannell, a veteran boatman recently deceased, the last year of whose life were spent in the employment of Col. Bell, as the confidential superintendent of his coal mines. [<N. A. Ledger>. ......We understand that a private dispatch was received yesterday announcing that the Fanny Bullitt will be down to-day for New Orleans. There is but little freight awaiting shipment, yet we trust that the Fanny may obtain a good share of it.
......The Woodford passed up yesterday flying light. The Autocrat was due and probably passed up last night. She had about 300 tons of freight on board. ......The Diana, on Friday night, took on board 250 bbls flour, 995 sks corn, 9 hhds tobaco for Crane & Brown, and 8 hhds of bacon for Geo. Foster & Co. ......The N. W. Thomas left New Orleans on Sunday, with 100 tons freight. She passed up last night, or will, doubtless, arrive to-day. ......The Glenwood, which arrived yesterday morning, was detained the remainder of the day "wind bound." She succeeded in getting off in the evening. ......The Tecumseh which was raised at Louisville the other day has put off for Cincinnati to be docked. She will be ready for business in a short time.
