ABSOLUTE AND UNIMPAIRED. Net Surplus of $942,181.72,

......Freights, as yet, are uncommonly scarce for this season of the year. The rates remain as fixed by the combination of steamboat owners. ......The weather yesterday was in pleasing contrast with the cold and rain of several preceding days. The sun shone warmly, the sky was clear, and we had intimations of being favored with a second edition of Indian summuer [sic], revised and corrected. Long may such weather continue!

.....The river commenced rising about

dark night before last, and rose about six inches in the 24 hours ending at dark last evening. Our dispatches from points above show the river to be rising rapidly, and we may expect a full river. The Wabash at last accounts was declining, but the heavy rains must cause a high rise. CINCINNATI, Nov. 28th, M.—The river has risen 3 feet 11 inches; 10 feet 2 inches in the channel. Weather clear and cool. LOUISVILLE, Nov. 28th.—River rising slowly; 6 feet 4 inches in the Canal. PITTSBURG, Nov. 28th, noon.—River 9 1/2 feet by the pier mark, and rising at the rate of 4 inches per hour. Weather clear and pleasant. ......The Anderson—a handsome and fast boat—will depart for Paducah to-day on arrival of the cars. Her accommodations are excellent. ......The D. B. Campbell is the regular Bowling Green mail packet this evening. — Our clever young friend, Travis, will be found in the office ready and willing to do the agreeable to all who may take passage with him. Freight will be taken good care of on the Campbell. ......The Dunbar left yesterday with only a moderate trip. This is owing altogether to the little traveling that is done these tight times. The Dunbar has been adding to her usual attractions. We notice that she now has in her employ a Minstrel Band consisting of five performers, who entertain the passengers every evening with the popular melodies and operatic pieces of the day, and never pass round the hat. This renders a trip to 'Paducah more than usually entertaining, and will increase the attractiveness of the Dunbar's accommodations. ......We understand the steamer John Tompkins will enter the Evansville and Wabash trade as soon as she gets off the rocks at Louisville. Capt. George Sutton will assume command of her, and Capt. Wm. Berkshire, her owner, will attend to the duties of the office. She will no doubt do well in the Wabash river trade.—<N. A. Ledger>.

......The Sir Wm. Wallace passed up yesterday morning. She has been detained a few days at Shawneetown near which place she had a cylinder timber broken— for repairs. The break was repaired after making an excursion into the woods and felling the stick of timber to replace the broken one. ......The Baltic passed up about 11 o'clock in the night. She furnishes us, through the kindness of Capt. P. O. O'Riley, with a late New Orleans Picayune. The officers of the Baltic report the excitement in New Orleans to be on the increase, and business very dull. Produce of all kinds has greatly depreciated in price. ......Capt. Frank Dusouchet tells us that

the Jacob Musselman was released from her ugly position and taken to "Little Chain," where she has laid up until a rise occurs in the Wabash. ......The Diana was at the landing a good part of last night, receiving freight for New Orleans. ......The Anderson, on the trip before the last, brought up a portion of the cargo from the wreck of the Memphis. The bacon was quite odorous. The whole lot was re-shipped on the Argonaut. ......The Dunbar brought up a lot of cotton for re-shipment to Louisville. One would think it ought to go East over our railroad. ......The Stephen Decatur passed down yesterday with one of the finest trips of the season, her guards being in the water. ......The bell-boat, whose aid was solicited in clearing the wharf-boat of water, refused to come unless permission was granted by the underwriters. The permission was granted last evening, and the Submarine will probably be at work to-day or to-morrow. ......We were informed yesterday that the Jacob Musselman was unfortunate on

her first trip, getting aground at Marshall's Ferry, about 10 miles from Mt. Carmel, where she is likely to remain for a short time, unless a rise of the river occurs soon. Mr. Boepple, our informant, thinks, however, the Wabash would soon begin to swell. ......Capt. Hicks King of this city has purchased the steamer Golden State, which has been laying up here for some time, of Capt. Bowles. The price, we learn, was $5,000, and about $1,000 more will be expended in putting her in good running order.—<N. A. Ledger>. ......It is said that the packet trade between Paducah and Nashville is in rather a

languishing condition at present. They, however, continue to run as regularly as possible, trusting for more auspicious times. [<N. A. Ledger>. =======
