Alter the jury was announced, Judge Huntington addressed them on the present political troubles and the duty- of lawabiding men. In the course of the address he distinctly denied the right of secession. He suggested to the jury the propriety of issuing an address to the public on the same Items from the Washington correspondence of the Cincinnati Gasetta : A correspondent says it is authoritatively asserted ttiat Mr. Buchauau will hold no communication with any commissioner from South Carolina, should that State send one as intimated to arrange the terms of Secession. It is the intention of that State io secede and di clare Charleston a free jiort, thus resisting the enforcement of the Federal laws. This is the exact position in which some of the Government officers desire to meet the issue, and there is good reason for saying that the President will be sufficiently explicit in his toes sage upon thia point, lie will not favor nullification. 'fho War Department orders show that there are but 900 soldiers now in the South, and if the Administration was disposed to increase the number; it would not lie politic to do so just now. Since John Foisythe has joined the Secessionists in Alabama, there seems to be hut tittle doubt that that State will follow the lead of South Carolina. The Virginia election is still in doubt. I should not be surprised if the official vote were to elect portions of each ticket. Mr. Buchanan has about completed his message. It will lie eminently conservative, though he w ill not hesitate to give the North a slap while blaming tho South lor its precipitancy. Thk Hoi; SlacqhTbB.
