I-orravir.r.r, Nov. 20th, p. m. --River falling ; 7 feet C inches in the Canal. The elegant and commodious packet Dunbar, the regular mail and passenger boat for Padtictih, is at the wharf receiving freight. She departs at 12 o'clock to-day. Her passenger facilities are unsurpassed. The Gen'l White is tire regular packet for Henderson. The gallant little Lue Eavep, Gapt Jim McDonald, leaves this evening lor Frostburg. Shippers having freight fot Pood river should have it in readiness. Orders left with Mr. Scho ulaub, at Slaughter & Dunkeraou's, will meet with prompt attention. We have not been able to obtain many additional particulars ot the loss of the Pacific. Through the courtesy of Mr. W. H. Conant, of the Gen'l Anderson, who also has our thanks for Memphis and New Orleans papers of lale dale, we were furnished with uu extra issued by the I'niontown News, containing an account of the burning, but it presented little beyond what we had already published. We learn from this souive, however, that when the tire wafirst discovered, the engineer endeavored in vain to get the luetjr engine to work to throw water on tl'.c tire, until Iho flames drove him away Capt. Lamb feli a sacrifice to his heroic sell-devotion for the s.ilety of his passenger-. So long a anyone remained on board, he labor-' with the energy ol a giant, and to his in ;' I'umentality more than to any other jierh ip is to be attributed the renuurkably small loss of life by this disaster. He w as nmi'ii.: the last on board the ill-lated lantt, and when at length compelled to spring into the water, ho was so much exhausted as to be unable to put forth any exertion to save himself. We make the following extract with reference to the mine of the cargo and boat Irom the Louisville Journal: The cargo consisted in part of tin following consign men ts : l'ighty-tour hhds lobacro, shipped by Messrs. Long A Waggoner: f.O hhds tobneco, by Mr. Nash ; fiOO sheep, by Oharlcs Dorsey ; 43 beef cattle, by F. Weisman : 43 beef cattle, by .Mr. Thomas, of Shelby count ; 43 mules, by a Mr. Dunn; K horses, by a gentleman from Indiana; 300 I Ms pork, by Mitchell ,t Armstrong: 190 bbts Hour, by James Kennedy ; iilanit IS tons pork, bacon, and lard, by Guthrie, White, k Co., and abont 20 tons bacon, perk, anil flour, by A. L. Shotwell & Ron ; together with other shipments not remembered, summing up a cargo valued ut 10o,0oo. The Pacific was in her third season, and was owned by Mini. Sberley, Hell, A Co., Capt .1. liragdon ami ( 'apt. Will. P. Halliday. She was valued at the time of the disaster at $50,000, and was insured tor $40.000 for $20,000 in the local afilees here, $..,000 in the Delaware In-urance Company, and the remaining $15,000 in the .New Aibnnv agencies of t 'incinnati odBcee. She hal just been repaired at Mootsd City, III., at an expense of c: ,000. Some ten or twelve head of cattle, three mules and tiro tsorjeo broke loose from their fastenings on the boat and escaped by swimming. All tke rest were burned The hull of the boat containing a large portion of the freight, drifted down below the "point," where it sunk. Mes us. Levy & t'o., of Cniontown, tobacconists, are removing the damaged tobacco from the wreck by means of a barge. It is now thought that, with the exception of Capt. Lamb and Mr. McDonald, who died from consumption, and the excitement occasioned by the lite, no lives were lost save those of the negro servants mentioned yesterday.
