Anderson, Cairo; Grey Eagle, Louisville; Gen. White, Henderson. ——— ......The weather yesterday morning was clear and cold, but later in the day it again became cloudy, with a drizzling rain. The River has commenced swelling again, and as the recent rain, seemed to have covered a considerable extent of territory, the present rise will probably be a permanent one. PITTSBURGH, Nov. 2.—River five feet two inches.by the pier mark and falling. Weather wet and cool. CINCINNATI, Nov. 2.—Rained last night and this morning—now clear. The favorite Evansville; and Cairo packet, Charley Bowen, is at the wharf, and will leave at 12 o'clock to-day for Cairo. Her reshipping arrangements at Cairo are such that shippers may rest assured that their freight will be forwarded from that point without delay. A full load of New Orleans freight is solicited. The Bowen's passenger accommodations are unsurpassed. ......The Gen'l Anderson, of the Evansville and Paducah daily Mail line, will be in port this morning, receiving freight. She extends her trip to-day to Cairo, and wants a full load of reshipping freight. The Anderson is one of the finest of our regular passenger packets, and is in the hands of experienced and capable officers. Passengers are sure of meeting with every attention . ......The "big" Grey Eagle is the regular mail and passenger packet for all points up the Ohio as far as Louisville. She leaves at 6 o'clock this evening. ......The General White for Henderson. ......The Charley Bowen ran up to Newburg yesterday afternoon to take on board a lot of flour and produce, for reshipment at Cairo. Her last trip was reshipped on the new Prince of Wales. ......The St. Cloud, from Cincinnati for New Orleans, was at the landing last night. She had a company 150 of Uncle Sam's "soger boys" on board who were going to Baton Rouge. Capt. Dravo gets $1200 for taking them down. ......The Cairo correspondent of the St. Louis Republican says: There is talk of withdrawing the Evansville and Paducah packets from the trade and establishing a daily line between Evansville and Cairo, to consist, we suppose, of the Dunbar, Gen. Anderson and Charley Bowen. It would be an advantageous arrangement for the Paducah packets, as their business would be greatly increased by extending their trips to the natural terminus of the trade. The establishment of such a line is only a question of time, as Cairo of course is, and always must be, the natural reshipping point for this region and the centre of its trade. ======= A Tblbgraphic Lib. The official returns of the late election in Indiana place Lane's majority at six thou -ami. The telegraph has heralded the report all over the land that it would reach twenty thousand. Jvl. Com. For the satisfaction of our Paducah. extemporary, we CM say, that the true majority lies between the over sanguine Republican figures on the one hand, and the shrunken Democratic figures on 111 other. The true majority is not much below tea thousand as good as twenty thousand for all practical purposes, aud better to brag on than six thousand. The majority is double what most Republicans permitted themselves to hope for. The ",0,0.00, however, our cotemporary may Set down as Old A lie's plurality on next Tuesday, and see how much short of that it will fall. An English paper says that a young damsel who is engaged, aud will shortly be united to a gallant sou of Neptune, lately visited the Mariners' Church. During the sermon the parson discoursed eloquently aud wilh much earnestness of the dangers and temptations ot the sailor. He concluded by asking, "Is there one who thinks anything of him who wears a tarpaulin hat and bluejacket, or a pair of trousers made of duck? In short, is there one who cares aught for the poor sailor A little girl a sister of the damsel, jumped up, and looking archly at her sister, said in a tone loud enough for every ore to hear, " Yes, Sir our Beckv does."
There weie wit 1-unJrcd chid ei&htutwo prosecutions commenced yesterday, against liquor shops in this city, that have been retailing the "crather " without license so to do. These prosecutious we understand embrace about eighty shops that have been engaged in this illegal traffic. The Prosecuting Attorney is zealous at the work, and the violators of the law w ill have to dance to the fiddler. It is remarkable that citi.eus presume to pay so little respect to tlm law, and violate its plain and express pro-isions with such impunity. The next thing we eipect to sr.ever is, that some limb of the law oitntional question in all Magistrate will decide 'ncoustitutional.

Orators are traversing the country promulgating the views of the various parties, newspapers and pamphlets are scattered broadcast over the land, filled .vab little else than "politics," as it is called. The whole nation is waiting in anxious expectation the result of the election of the Cth of November. Little else i.j thought of but the election, and little else will be thought of until it is over, and the public mind is relieved of its anxious suspense. The truth is, we are in the midst of a great political Revolution, which overshadows in importance to onr people the great social and political revolution transpiring in Southern Kurope. In ordinary and quiet times in this country, our people would be anxiously watching and discussing the Italian Revolution and its bearings en the fate of Europe (for it is really one of the mightiest events of the age); but instead of attending to the affairs ot other people afar ntl", we have as much as we can do to attend lo our own intererls. That which would, Otherwise, claim our most earnest attention, now f.'1'ts only our heartfelt sympathy for the revolutionists and good wishes for their complete success in overthrowing their oppressors. The people of Italy ate fighting for tbtii natural liberties lor the right of frpe thought, fn-e nclior., free speech, and a free press. We are engaged in a fierce battle ot ideas and opinion?, in order that we may re estaM9ti a principle which once prevailed in this Republic thai freedom is national, Slavery sectional ; Freedom the rule, Slavery ' the exception ; and that we may restore for the government of the country, the policy of ici-it ictioti of slavery to where it exists b local laws, instead ot its indefinite extension all over the Union and its territories. We seek to re establish the idea that the Constitution which our fathers left us is a Constitution lor fraeasuB. Our opjuinenls contend that is recognises, patronizes, aud protects Airrican slavery, regardless of the j interests of free white men. Stripped of all electioneering clap trap, of , verbiage, and surplusage, this is the question, the only question, the whole question J All who vote for the Republican candi- j dates vote for a Free Constitution : all who 1 vole against that party, vote for a Slave Constitution.
