SATURDAY -OUNIN6. OtTOHKK - Major A. M. Ilmicuck Will address the people ttl the iollotviiig times and place? : Bloonjington, SatunUj, Ortolier 27, 1 o'clock. osport, Monday, October 20, I o'clock: tireencustle, Tuesday, October ::0, 1 o'clock; Terre Haute, Wednesday, October Jl, :it night ; Sullivan, Thursday, November 1, I o'clock ; Vincennef, Friday, November 2, at night; Kvimsville, Sttturdny, October 3, at nioi.t. Spkxckh County Fair. Although a press of otticial business, prevented the writer from attending our late Agricultural Fair, yet we cannot refrain from saving a word or two of encouragement to our people upon the success that attend. 1 the exhibition of last week. The attendance wna, larger than the rtoot sanguine of our ujiri. cultural friends bad anticipated. In fact, it was a very successful demonstration of the kind, and compared favorably w ith the Fair i of our Kentucky neighbors at Owensboto. and of our Warrick friends at Boonville. The crowd iu attendance on Friday was estimated at fiom :t,000 to 4,000 persona. The show of blooded stock surpassed that of aov previous year, and A rtizans' Hall was heller filled with the skill of our Mechanics than usual. Floral Hall was well represented by our fair lady friends, and the skill of their pretty hands und the ingenuity of their well cultivated minds, attracted admiration from all. This exhibition of the Industry of our farmers, mec'.iauics.wives, and daughters, is a subject of just pride to nil of our people, and they will duly appreciate it. The real date of our Agricultural Fairs has just begun, and we hope that by next year our people will see its complete sue- I cess No one thing can so well bring out i the hidden resources of our luxuriant Boil, ! as well conducted Fairs, where premiums ! are paid for the best productions. It stimulates all classes of our citizen to a laudable i zeal, industry, and pride to excel. Then push on the column of Agricultural and Mechanical improvements, and soou we will indeed feel proud of our annual exhibition. The Fair wound up on Saturday with a grand Mule race that excited the mirth and jollity ot all bystanders. The receipts were unusually heavy, which is a good sign.. -tforkfort Democrat. lUE MlNUTK ilt.N 9 PLIDBB. from Columbia, H.
