Minnetonka, Paducah; Lue Eaves, Green river; Gen. White, Henderson. ——— ......The weather yesterday was clear, bright and pleasant. The river continues to decline rapidly. It has fallen, altogether, three feet since it commenced receding. ......The regular Evansville and Paducah mail packet Minnetonka leaves the wharf at 12 o'clock today. She is in charge of Capt. Whyte Fowler, an experienced and careful commander, with those obliging and popular gentlemen, Messrs Dusouchet, Glenn and Davis in the office to attend to pasengers. The Gen. White is the regular daily packet for Henderson. ......We regret to say that Mr. Markell, clerk of the Charley Bowen, has again been confined to his room by illness. We hope for him a speedy recovery. Mr. Viets, the Bowen's agent, went on the boat yesterday in the place, of Mr. Markell, who is at the Sherwood House. ......The Dunbar has been undergoing a thorough overhauling and painting, at Paducah. She has a new pilot house, texas and other improvements nearly completed, and when she comes out again she will be so fine that she ''won't know herself." ......The Bowen and Anderson started out yesterday, with a fair prospect for another trial of speed. This time the Anderson had a few minutes the start and was nearly light. The Bowen had a fair trip. The Anderson has been burning wood, but yesterday had her fire-lox altered so as to burn coal, which will probably add something to her speed. ......The Memphis Avalanche, of the 17th learns from a private letter to Capt. Dick Love, that the Masonic Gem, a day or two since, struck a snag at Little Island, in White river, thirty-four miles from St. Charles, and sunk in several feet of water. The Gem left Memphis last Thursday, with a fair freight list, and two steam pumps, which she was taking to the Rose Douglas, that was sunk sometime since near Augusta, The letter before alluded to, states that one of the pumps would be rigged at once, and it was thought that the Masonic Gem, triangle and all, would be afloat again in a day or two. It was the intention of Pilsbury to return to this port without finishing his trip. The Masonic Gem was a little more than a year old, and was owned by her commander, Capt. Pilsbury. She was worth about ten thousand dollars.—<St. Louis Rep>. The Jem has since been raised, and at latest accounts was on her way to Little Rock. ......The A. H. Sevier which was snagged and sunk a short time ago, has come off the ways at Cincinnati in perfect repair, and will enter service again immediately. ......Leslie Combs is the name of a new boat building at Madison, for Capt. Silver, for the Kentucky river and Cincinnati trade. ======= RAILROAD RECEIPTS. OCTOBER 23d, 1860. ' Scar loads trees, J. 11. Pal male ; 1 bx, 0 bides BOWS, ('has. t. Wells; 1 b. books. I.n- October, 1854, Abraham Lincoln closed one ot his ablest speeches ou the theu recent repeal of the Missouri Compromise, and the men who perpetrated the deed, by saying that if Douglas would not admit the facts of history, and would continually fly from his own premises, no argument would put an end to his sophistries. " In that case,'' Faid Mr. L., " I can ouly commend him to the seventy thousand answers from Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana.'' feiJ"" At last we have heard from Spenct county, and if we hadn't missed a copy the Evansville -lournal a few days ago, that paper assures -.?s we should have heard before. It gives Ileudricks 102 majority. This would raise Lane's majority to 10,000, but that Pike coutily raises her majority fat Hendricks from '25 to 47. The net Republican gain by the two corrected reports is 20, which, added to the majority announced yesterday, makes 9,97G. tni. Journal, 20th. II OBI Canal Boats Wasted. The Oswego Times says : " The great quantity of grain In port and continually arriving created a constant demand for canal boats. The freights are good from this port, and the canal facilities for the past few days do not nearly equal the requirements of business.'' The Bexicia Boy Fmkd. The Benicia Boy was fined $300 in Buffalo, on Tuesday, for his participation in the fight at Long Point, a year ago. The Express says that Heenan immediately pulled from his pocket a comfortable roll of $100 bank bills, and "planking " three of them, without a word, walked independently away. t" Great indignation was felt by some fusion clubs who were marching up Broadway, New York, ou Monday night, when they saw over the banner of the Republican headquarters, a red Hag, which informed the public of the auction of Japanese goods which was going on in the same building. The coat fitted and the friends of fusion put it ou without more ado, and vet it wa3 not made for them. An Old Citizen Gonb. Win. A Docker' an old, highly esteemed and wealthy merchant of this place, departed this life yeter day at 10 o'clock. He leaves an extensive circle of friends and relatives to lament his demise. A numerous concourse attended his funeral to-day. Shotmeetoten llllnoisan Oct. nth. If DooflhAa lust Indiana, it wasn't for want of work or trickery on his part. The Seymour Times says that in Jackson coun ty, the County-Clerk employed a deputy to go round gecreuy and naturalize all foreign ers who would pledge themselves to support the right ticket. Every possible means was adopted to keep the outrage from the knowl edge of the Republicans. TmI village of Troy, New Jersey, in 1850, voted solidly for Fillmore and Donaldson. In 18C0 it is solidly for Lincoln and Hamlin. This is but one of more than twenty similar cases ot New Jersey villages rising up from the contemptible decoy, called tin " Union Ticket," and supporting the Republican nominees. Exchange. i he Crops abroad. Almost mi over Eurone the pitiless shower seems to have been descending. In the wine districts of France they are debating whether the crops will be worth gathering. Col.
