Anderson, Cairo: Charly [sic] Bowen, Cairo; Grey Eagle, Louisville. ——— .......The river was swelling quite slowly yesterday, and is probably stationary this morning. The present rise has about reached its height, and another decline will be the next thing in order. CINCINNATI, Oct. 19th.—The river has fallen 19 inches. There is now 10 feet 3 inches in the channel. PITTSBURG, Oct. 19th.—River 4 feet by the pier mark and falling. Weather clear. ......The "EvansvilIe Pony," Charley Bowen, is in port and goes to Cairo at 12 o'clock. She is the regular Evansville and Cairo packet, having been longer in the trade, and being therefore better known and more firmly established than any other boat.— Her officers are very popular with the traveling public, and their standing with business men generally, is number one. The steamer herself stands not only in the first rank of boats of her class, but is above par in many respects. Possessing advantages fully equal with her competitors, the Bowen cannot fail to merit a liberal share of the public patronage. ......The "lead horse" Grey Eagle is the regular packet for Louisville, leaving at 6 o'clock this evening. For freight or passage apply on board or to John B. Hall, agent, at No 2 Water street. ......The elegant passenger steamer Gen. Anderson is in port for Cairo at noon to day, and wants a full load of New Orleans freight. The Anderson is a first rate boat, managed by capable and clever officers, and cannot fail to meet the approbation of all who patronize her. ......The Paducah Herald says: Capt. Ben. W. Egan has retired from the firm of Smedley, Egan & Co., and accepted the clerkship of the Gen. Anderson, in the Padacah and Evansville trade. While congratulating Admiral Gibraltar on having secured the services of Capt. Egan, we must take occasion to regret the loss to our eity of a prompt and reliable business man. In this new enterprise our old friend bears with him our good wishes. ......We understand that the Pond river packet, Trader, has been purchased by parties at Rockport, who have converted her into a ferry boat to ply between that place and the opposite shore. ......The new T. D. Hine, full of freight and black with passengers, passed down yesterday, without stopping. ......The Peytona, on her return trip from New Orleans to Louisville, passed up yesterday—the first of the large boats making the round trip this season. ......The J. H. Done cleared from Cincinnati for Memphis on Thursday, with a fine trip—about 250 tons freight, and full of passengers. ......The sale of the United States steamer Mink, which was to have taken place at St. Louis on Wednesday, has been postponed until the 29th inst. ......The Cincinnati and Memphis packet Messenger, report says, is lying tied up near Island 14, where she lost her entire water wheel. It dropped in deep water and in all probability cannot be recovered. Capt. Kyle has contracted for another shaft. The Messenger's engines were not injured by the accident. ......The Interchange, which lately sunk in White river, is being wrecked, and all her machinery has been taken out. ......It is reported that the Masonic Gem, well known in this region, struck a snag on Sunday evening and sunk, in White river, about sixty-five miles above the mouth.— She was on her way from Memphis up White river with a valuable cargo, which will be greatly damaged. The report says the boat herself is not seriously damaged, and can be raised. ......The St. Louis papers are complaining greatly about the levee thieves who infest that neighborhood. Scarce a day passes but that some boat lying at that port is robbed of a portion of its freight.— The Economy, while lying there, was robbed of some $300 worth of lead and grain. ======= RAILROAD RECEIPTS. Cheese steady at 9(77' 1 1 for inferior to prime. Coffee pending the auction sales for to-morrow, the market for Rio was very quiet, but firm; the sales included 100 bags of St. Pomingo at iric. Molasses very quiet ; sales of 50 hhds of Porto Rico at 3839 ; 10 hhd.! of Barbadoes at 35c ; and by auction 100 bbls do, at 35$,38 for cash. Sugar refiners and speculators having withdrawn from the market, the article has become rather quiet, and we can only learn of sales of J,00o hhds, including Cuba at 6Jf7j',7j and Porto Rico nt 7J8. Hides steady at 24 for Buenos Ayres ; 2424J for Rio Grande ; 18c for dry western ; and 331 nt C months for Orinoco. Wool market for domestic fleece is very quiet, and we hear of 10,000 pounds of I 'nlifornia" at about previous prices. Cincinnati Market. Cincinnati, Get. 19, p. m.
