DEPABTEP. Poland, Louisville: Dunbar, Paducah. BOATS LEAVING TOD-DAY. Grey Eagle, jr., Lou.: Lue Eaves, Green river: Gen. White, Henderson. ——— ......The <River> at latest advices was falling at Pittsburg, with 6 feet 3 inches in the channel, but at Cincinnati it had been rising, the swell amounting in all to about 10 inches. There were 6 feet reported in the channel thence to Louisville. The river at the latter point had risen very rapidly until it marked 4 feet 3 inches in the Canal, when it become almost stationary. There had been a violent storm in that latitude, and considerable rain fell. At this point the river continues to fall very rapidly, and the sands are now showing themselves. Hence to Louisville 5 feet are reported on the bars, and there is about the same depth in the channel out to Cairo. Weather clear and warm. ......The musical <Grey Eagle>, Capt. A. Donnelly, is the regular mail and passenger packet for Louisville and intermediate landings, at 6 o'clock this evening. Messrs. Lusk, Voris, and Donnelly are the accomplished clerks. The >Grey Eagle> is the most eystematic boat in this part of the river in her manner of doing business. Her passengers hear no noise and confusion whilst she is receiving or discharging freight, those operations being conducted with a quietness and celerity truly remarkable. ......The <Lue Eaves>, the regular U. S. mail packet, and the only boat now plying in Green river, leaves the wharf for all points on that stream at 6 o'clock this evening. She is now in charge of Capt A. Liter, of the <Bowling Green>, who puts her throngh in fine style. The popular clerk, Jno. Travis, presides in the office. ......The <Dunbar> will leave for Cairo at 12 o'clock to-morrow, and will want a full load of Cairo, Memphis, and New Orleans freight. ......The steamer <Atlanta>, now tied up at our wharf, is to be sold on the 5th of September, by order of the Circuit Court.—<Vin. Sun>. ......Capt. .JACOB STRADER, the old and well-known river man, died in Cincinnati on the 28th. ......Capt. Charles Coles, of the White river mail trade, has purchased the <Kanawha Valley>, recently a Louisville and Owensboro packet, and, still later, in the Madison trade, to take the place of the sunken <Fortune>. The price paid was $6,000 cash. ......We glean from our exchanges the following items with reference to new boats recently built or in progress: The new Bends packet, <Mary Keene>, is rapidly approaching completion, and will be ready to go South on the next rise in the river. She is said to be a most beautiful specimen of New Albany marine architecture. The new side-wheel steamer, <Charm>, built at Cincinnati for the Vicksburg and Yazoo river trade, made a satisfactory trial trip on Monday. Capt. Puckette's new Red river boat, <W. M. Levy>, one of the most complete boats ever built for the trade, and the <Dixie>, Capt. Bulkley's new boat for the upper Red river, have been completed, and will probably start South during the present week. Capt. Sheble, of St. Louis, has gone up the river to bring out, the new Keokuk packet, <Jennie Deans>, from the Madison shipyards. She is to be towed round to St. Louis, where her machinery is built. ———<>——— Receipts by Railroad. Politics are raging very high here at this time, and there is no hopes of their STtbsidtng until after the election, although most of tbe fuss tha is made, is between the two wings of the harmonious Don. racy. Yuu w ill bear in mind that Iowa is a Republican State, and we me.n to use every exertion to maintain and perpetuate it as such. I do not think thai it will require much eserlion upon our part to do so. Lincoln and Hamlin are carrying tlwi day here almost entirely. A great many Lincoln Clubs have already been organized, and new Clubs are being formed daily. A great number of Buchanan Democrats have come out and hold themselves fit subjecU for voting for Lin'Cjlx and Hamlin. kutUy, rally.
