Charley Bowen, Cairo; Grey Eagle, sr., Lou.; Lue Eaves, Green river. ——— ......The <Weather> seemed rather warm yesterday, although the thermomete [sic] marked only 85°, there being very little air ster [sic]ring. Sunday forenoon was also quite warm, but copious showers of rain fell during the afternoon and evening. ......The <River> at this point was falling quite fast yesterday evening. At Cincinnati, Sunday evening, it was swelling slowly, and at Louisville, after having fallen quite rapidly, it came to a stand, with 3 feet 6 inches of water in the canal on Sunday night. Hence to Cairo 5 1/2 feet are reported. The Mississippi is stationary, with 8 1/2 feet thence to St. Louts. ......The <Lue Eaves> left for Green river on Saturday evening, and returned yesterday. She leaves again this evening. Since her overhauling and repainting, she looks like a new boat. ......The <Charley Bowen> leaves for Cairo and intermediate points at noon to-day. She offers every accommodation for passengers. ......The "big" <Grey Eagle> is the regular mail packet for Louisville this evening. Passengers will find her safe and commodious. ......Capt. Sam Minear has purchased the commanding interest of the <Pocahontas>. She has been taken to one of the ship yards at Cincinnati to undergo repairs. ......The <Fanny Pierson>, Capt. Witham's new boat for the Red river and Bayou Pierre trade is rapidly approaching completion: and will be launched from the Madison ways in a week or so. A race fer a purse of !? 50, between the two oared row boats A. Law and J. li. Howe, is to come off on the 11th of next month, over the Monongahela three mile course. ......The Cairo correspondent of the St. Louis <Republican> says: A robbery was committed on board the <Choctaw> Thursday night or Friday morning. The thief stole the keys of the safe of the boat from under the pillow of the clerk, and abstracted the entire contents of the safe, amounting to $800 or or $1,000. There were about $300 in the drawer which he did not get. ......The <Bracelet> having been obliged to lay up at Louisville for repairs is to have her guards widened and some other changes made to fit her for the cotton trade in Red river. ......The <Pacific> has been hauled out on the ways at Mound City, and found to be perfectly sound. She is to be recaulked and painted, when she will be almost as good as new. ......When the <Gen. Pike> was at Paducah, on her last trip up, while engaged in taking some freight from the <Red Rover>, her clerk, Dr. W. R. Shrader, accidentally fell through the after hatch of the latter boat and was seriously, but it is hoped not fatal by [sic] injured. ......The <Bowling Green> left yesterday with a fair trip. Mr. John Travis, late of the <D. B. Campbell> is her clerk. Our amiable friend, Alf. Edwards, has abandoned the river for the present. ......The reported sale of the ferry at this point has not taken place, the terms of sale not having been agreed upon. The ferry-boat is now lying on the bar on the opposite side of the river, and there is no way for teams to get over at present. The <S. P. Hibberd>, that was sunk by the the Chancellor just below New Albany, is said to be in a very critical position, and very much twisted. The greater portion of the deck load of the boat's cargo has been removed under the charge of Capt. Hamilton, agent of the Underwriters in Louisville. The damage on many articles will be light. It is feared the boat will be lost. Capt. Jas. Woodburn, the agent of fhe Pittsburg Underwriters, arrived on Sunday and took formal possession of the wreck. Capt. W. will offer the hull at private sale, failing in which he will attempt to raise the boat. ———<>——— We mast accept as a good omen the fact that a young alligator has been caught in ; the Passaic river, near New York, the first visitor of the kind ever discovered in those ; waters. It is idle for the Southern seces- j sionists to preach non-intercourse, when I even their amphibious reptiles are going northward for supplies. Lou. Jour. Receipts by Railroad. July 3"th, 1860. DB. HAAS, having leased the roonzs fornierlyoecupied by Dr. Klvett, in Dr. Bray's building, opposite the Post Office, for a series of Years, would respectfully solicit the citizens of Uvunsvillc and the ; surrounding towns and country, 'o Tisit his rooms and see the specimens on exhibition, whether they : need the services of a Dentist or not. Since the issuing of hiB last circular and advor- , tisemeut, over a year since, several improvements and new invention! have been made, of which he has availed himself, and allows nothing that will suboeevu the interests of hi patients, to pass unsecured. His facilities are better aud eetablishi nient larger, without doubt, thar any other in our I State, and equal toany in Eastern cities. All those who need Dental operations performed, and are pleased with his work, shall be attended to with great pleasure. The following are the styles of work manufactured by him: Continuous Gum; Block or Carved Work; Vulcanite Base: Coralite; Aruber; Cheoplsstic; Gold and Silver work. Nothing can excel the lieanty and cleanliness of the continuous gum work. It Is without a seam or crevice. Cheeks that are auuken can be restored to nearly their original contour by this style bf work, and also by the use of the Vulcanite, Coralite, and Amber Base. The latter styles, for lightness and adaptation to difficult mouths, vxcel auvcels anything we have ever sxen. He has several anesthetics for alleviating pain when extracting teeth. Thev are perlectiy harmless. The most delicate can have them applied. He does not advertise anything he cannot do, nor exhibit anything not made by himself. Parents should consult the health and beauty of their children by having the Dentist direct their second dentition, thereby producing symmetry and health to those invaluable organs. Irregularity of children's teeth corrected sue cessfully. Those having decayed teeth, should either hav them extracted or tilhd at once (tnsj latter if possible). Tlw health of the onrti'-s and the remain, ing teetti demand this. 1 take pleasure in introducing Dc Haas, my successor to tin old rooms in flray's building, hoping he will tind them hoih psVwNM and profitable From My in'errourse with the Doctor, I am pleased to find Mm one t the progressing; 'HiHsesHing ts.ste and high proleesloiial ability and standing.
