Adams, Louisville; Dunbar, 1'aducuh; L. C. Ferry, Louisville. BOATS LEAVING TO-DAY. Grey Eagle, jr., Louisv.; Bowling Green, Green R. ——— ......The <Weather> yesterday was quite pleasant clear and sunshiny in the morning, but cloudy and cool in the afternoon, with some prospect for rain. ......The <River> here has swollen slightly within the last 36 hours probably three inches. Along the Upper Ohio there are no boats of any size running, and the river still continues in a bad condition. On the worst bars only two feet water is reported, and the river falling slowly. At Louisville the river was rising slowly yesterday, with 4 feet 8 inches water in the canal. During the previous 24 hours it had risen two inches at the head of the falls, and some six inches at Portland. From Cairo out to St. Louis 8 feet are reported, and the river falling at the rate of 4 inches in 24 hours. ......<Business> at this port continues dull, the regular packets getting light trips and outside boats little or nothing. There are no remarkable changes in shipping rates; shipments of corn have been made on the <Charley Bowen> at 35 cents, and flour at 55, but other boats are taking them at former quotations. ......The neat and fast packet <Grey Eagle> will leave for Louisville, and all way landings this evening, at 6 o'clock, P. M., in charge of Capt. A. Donnally, and Mr. J. A. Lusk in the office, assisted by Messrs. Voris and Donnally—all very clever gentlemen, and will see passengers through in fine style. ......The <Lue Eaves>, not having completed her repairs, was unable to get away yesterday. She will probably leave this evening. ......The <L C Ferry> arrived and departed last night. Her obliging [covered] has our thanks for newspaper favors. ......The job boat <Charley Miller> passed up yesterday, with four barges in tow. ......The U. S. mail steamer <Bowling Green> will be in port for all points on Green river, as far up as Woodbury, at 6 o'clock this evening. ......The new steamer <Fannie McBurnie> has commenced running, taking the place of the <Ohio No>. 3 in the Cincinnati and Marietta trade. ......A boat race recently took place at Staten Island, near New York city, between the four oared shell boats, <J. Vorhis, Mackay> and <Stranger>, which was won by the <Stranger> in nineteen minutes and twenty-nine seconds, the <Mackay> coming in second. The distance was three minutes [sic], and the purse three hundred dollars. ......The owners of the <Interchange> have sold her to James P. Finnie, formerly proprietor of the wharf-boat at Caseyville, for $4,000. She is to be repaired at Mound City and will continue in the trade from Louisville to White River. Capt. Gilchrist will take charge of her for a few trips. ......The Cairo correspondent of the St. Louis <Democrat>, of Tuesday, says with reference to the recent storm: "We were favored with a delightful rain Sunday afternoon, which came, however, accompanied by one of the most tremendous blows that ever visited Cairo. It was nearly two hours coming up, but when it reached us, struck with a violence seldom experienced. Coal barges were swamped to the number of six; the smoke stack of Chas. Galigher & Co.'s mill was demolished; the tin roof of the stone depot was rolled up from one end to the other, and gently lifted to the ground, and the board roof on which it was nailed followed it soon after, leaving the freight inside the depot about as well situated as it would have been on the bank. The engine house of the I. C. R. R. was entirely demolished, and piled in a heap on top of three engines which were inside at the time. The bank building was unroofed, and most of the Springfield block. Every tin roof in town was taken off. The parlor windows of the St. Charles Hotel were blown out "in lots," and gangs of four and five men were formed to close the doors. ......The office of the steamer <J. Laddell> at Cincinnati was robbed of $35 on Saturday afternoon. Two hands employed on the boat were arrested, and one of them, named Varion, acknowledged the crime, and was committed in default of $1,000, to answer the charge of grand larceny. ......We learn that the owners of the <Grey Eagle>, of which Capt. Daniels is commander, have chartered the <Kanawha Valley> to run between here and Henderson during the low water season.—<N. A. Ledger>. ......This evening we were shown a gentleman who, it is said, received $500 per month for two years for piloting in Red river. It is needless for us to say, he, to all outward appearances, looks like other men. —<N. A. Tribune>. Vincennes Correspondence. VINCENNES, July 23. Editor Journal: The Republicans aie busy preparing a county ticket, since the prospects for success are so favorable in fact, almost certain. The candidates fur nomination are getting to be quite numerous, as a nomination is looked upon as equivalent to an election. Our County Convention comes off nest Saturday at Gentry ville, close by Lincoln's old " stamping ground," where he used to maul his mils; and from indications the i sovereigns will be out in such numbers as ' were never witnessed nt a Spencer county ' Convention before. The enthusiasm i'r.r , j Lincoln increases d.tily. Old Spencer will i be for him, certain. Albert Lange was here last week, and i addressed a large crowd on Thursday night j on one of the street corners. Ter barrel! ' brilliantly illuminated the streets, aud the I cheers were loud and numerous. The Republicans of this township held their Township Convention last Saturdav. ' There were several hundred present. R. T. Kirchcval, of Grandview, and T. F. DeBruler, of Rockport, spoke wilh their usual ability. Kircheval was a warm supporter of Fillmore, but is out for Lincoln. IIo will do yeoman's service in the good work this Fall. We also raised our Liucoln pole with a long streamer. na;led fast, floating from the top, wilh "Lincoln and Hamlin " inscribed thereon.
