Green: Bracelet, Louisville. ——— ......The <Weather> yesterday was very warm during the early part of the day, yet not excessively so, for there was a fresh breeze stirring, which prevented the air from becoming close and suffocating as it frequently does at this season. In the afternoon, however, the skies clouded up, and there appeared to be considerable rain all round in our vicinity, but very little of it fell here. The evening closed heavily clouded, and with prospect for further rain. ......The <River> at this point is still receding. It has now arrived at a stage at which navigation is exceedingly difficult even for boats of the lightest draught, the water being spread out on the shoals in a broad, shallow sheet. A better river is expected in a day or two, as the channel cuts out, even though it should continue falling. The latest arrivals from above report only 3 feet of water at Pittsburg by the mark; at Glasshouse 10 inches, Sisters 32 inches, and Wheeling 3 1/2 feet; Blanny 3 feet and Buffington 3 1/2 feet. At Cincinnati the river was very low and falling at the rate of 3 inches in 24 hours. Thence to Louisville there were about 5 feet of water, the Flats, Rising Sun and Warsaw bars being the shoalest points. At Louisville there were about 3 1/2 feet in the canal, and falling. Between Louisville and this point there are 5 feet large. 6 1/2 feet are reported on the Caseyville bar, and the water pretty well scattered over the bar, so that it is very difficult to tell which is the best channel.— Cincinnati Towhead is the next shoalest point, with a pair of coal-boats hard aground, and one single boat sunk. On Flint and French Island bars 7 1/2 feet is the reported depth. On the shoals of the Cumland there are 28 inches water. Between St. Louis and Cairo there are 14 feet water in the channel, and the river swelling. The Mississippi is reported stationary by the last arrivals, and there are 7 feet on the Upper and 5 feet on the Lower Rapids. .......Business yesterday was exceedingly dull, there being but one shipment of any consequence, and as one glanced from the lessening river to the deserted levee, glowing and quivering in the sultry sunshine, the thought of active business under such circumstances became oppressive. There is as yet no material change in the shipping rates, from this point. A lot of flour was shipped yesterday at 40c, and corn at 25. We are in general governed by Louisville rates, but our shippers seem reluctant to come up to that standard now, and the steamboat agents refuse to ship for less. The following are the last reported from that port: tobacco per hhd $5.50; hay per ton 10.00; corn per sack 35c; lard per tierce 1.00; whisky per bbl 1.25; flour 62 1/2; pork 90; potatoes 62 1/2; pound freights 35 per hundred. ......The steamers <Masonic Gem> and <D. B. Campbell> have issued hand bills announcing their intention to carry passengers attending the celebration of the Fourth at this place from Bowling Green to Evansville and return for half fare. We hope all who can will avail themselves of this liberality on the part of Capt's Lumm and Pillsbury, and we assure them they will be well entertained ......The steamer <Union> has been withdrawn from the Evansville and Green River trade. ......The staunch and commodious <Bracelet> is the regular packet to Louisville, leaving to-day. Shippers will find her officers prompt, active and careful, while passengers will meet with every attention. Capt. John B. Hall, her agent, will be ready to attend to any business with which he may be favored. ......The favorite Green river packet <D. B. Campbell> leaves this port for Bowling Green to-day. The regularity of her movements, the energy and promptness of her officers, and the care with which they attend to the business intrusted to them, have made the <Campbell> one of the most popular boats which visit our wharf. There are no more clever officers on the river than Capt. Lumm and Clerk Travis. ......The United States mail packet <Masonic Gem>, will be in port to-day for Bowling Green. Besides being the largest and handsomest, she has proved herself the most expeditious of the Green River packets, and with such obliging and affable officers as Capt. Pillsbury and clerks Edwards and McDonald, she cannot fail to be a popular boat. Those who take passage in will meet with every accommodation. She leaves at 6 P. M. ......Bent. Moore, Esq., for many years an engineer on the Ohio, died of consumption at his residence on Saturday, in the 41st year of his age. He was a brother of Capt. Thomas Moore, long and favorably known among river men. His funeral took place yesterday, (Sunday,) attended by the river men and a large concourse of citizens. The flags of the steamers at the lauding were at half-mast, and all other usual and becoming respects shown the deceased by his surviving river companions. Capt. Richardson's new boat, the <Sunny South>, will be completed about next September. The captain of a steamboat at this point is a strong Bell and Everett man. He won't employ a man who is not in favor of this ticket. In considering the proposition of a chambermaid the other day, he very seriously requested her to state her politics before he would engage her.—<Wheeling Paper>.

This is a new local trade, and we hope to see it encouraged hy our merchants. Lou. Jour. The .. C. Ferry, Capt. Ford's new steamer just completed at our wharf, made a trial trip day before yesterday, and we understand that her machinery worked finely. The Ferry is an excellent model, of exceed ingly liplit draught, and well adapted lor the summer trade. She has been built under tbe superintendence of ('apt. Ham. Smith. His long experience in the business is a sufficient ouarantee that she is properly con- ; structed and will fully meet the demands of ' the ttade, being well Stppjid Perth all mod1 ern conveniences and accommodations. She j is designed to run as a regular packet b(tween this city and Cannclton . JV1 A. Irib. j Capt. Scott, of the Autocrat, has the I subject uuder consideration, and if the prosI pect seems to justify bita in doing so, will 1 make atrip to Henderson and Mt. Should be determine to do so he will issue bills announcing the fact, time of departure, &c. We hope the citizens of those places will extend him every encouragement. The'Bcucu Divokce Case. The Chicago Vres.f saj8 that Um Court has granted a change of venue, on the motion of counsel for Mrs. Burch, she alleging that the rejudice existing against her in Chicago would prevent a fair trial there. The trial will take place in Dupage county, in November. Dut iiLAS, as a debater, is never so preat as in replying to a question put to biro by his opponents. Like water, he rises above his level by pumping. Lou. Jour. Tin: Enquirer expresses tiie hope that Breckinridge will decline the nomination of the Democratic Convention, with a view to harmonizing the party. That is not very modest, since Mr. Breckinridge can secure the electoral votes of teu or twelve Southern States, w hile Mr. Douglas cannot count upon a single electoral vote in any State in the Union. Via. Gaz. The nomination of Lane for the ViceI Presidency is an outrage upon the intellect of the country. He is absolutely unfit, and thoroughly incompetent for the post. Enqnirer. Then you hail better help to elect Mr. Lincoln, for it is pretty certain that either the Republican candidate or Lane will be i the next Ffesiilert. To that the division of. the Democracy has reilinul the contest. CVh. Gaz. BtS".Icl'rilIis Gray has been appointed : Treasurer of Pike county, lud., by the County t'oiii'tiissioiiers, tu-e James Crow, resigned.
