......The <Weather> yesterday was clear, with a light wind and a broiling sun. ......The <River> at this point is again stationary at about 12 inches above the level at which it commenced to rise. There is now about 11 feet of water in the channel above this city. ......<Business> on the levee was dull, and the boats at the landing were doing a very slim business. ......The champion steamer <Charley Bowen>, leaves for Cairo to-day. She is the best boat of her class in this part of the river, and is conducted by the best-natured, most accommodating set of officers on any part of it. Mr. P. D. Viets is her agent here, and will receive all freight with which she may be favored. Passengers will find the <Bowen> everything they can desire. ......By reference to an advertisement, it will be seen that we are to have a regular mail to and from Howling Green and intermediate points on Green river—the mail to start from this city on Mondays and Thursdays, and from Bowling Green on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The <Masonic Gem>, under those popular officers, Capt. Pillsbury and Clerk Edwards, is the boat selected for this service. She will be the pioneer mailboat between Evansville and Bowling Green, and, since the late overhauling and repairing she has undergone, may be considered the finest boat that ever went into Green river. On Monday morning she will make a trial trip and return Thursday morning, and on the first of July the mail will be started. We anticipate great benefit to Evansville from this enterprise. ......The Louisville and Henderson packet <Grey Eagle> comes down to-day and returns. Mr. John B. Hall, at I. A. Crane's, is her agent, and will receipt for all freights designed for her. Capt. Sam. B. Halliday, in the clerk's office, will be ready to show passengers every attention. ......The <Monarch> has laid up for the season at Fulton, and the Melrose goes on the stocks at Cincinnati, ......The favorite N. Orleans packet <Autocrat> has laid up for the present at this place. In the mean time she will be thoroughly washed up, painted and refitted. ......The favorite Green river boat, the <D. B. Campbell>, was in yesterday with a fair trip. She leaves this morning for Bowling Green. Passengers will remember that she is the only boat going up Green river to-day. ......The <John Gault> did not leave Louisville on Thursday, as advertised, her owners having determined to allow her to lay up for a while in order to give her a general overhauling. The Louisville <Courier> says that the <Hazel Dell> took the <John Gault's> trip, and left that place loaded to the guards. She was due here yesterday, but did not arrive. ......At the meeting of steamboat men, held in Pittsburgh, last Wednesday, Capt. W. C. Harry was called to preside, and Capt. Beltzhoover appointed Secretary. Afler remarks by Capt. Kountz and others, a committee, consisting of Capts. Beltzhoover, Martin, and Robinson was appointed, to draft a constitution and by-laws for the regulation and government of the Pittsburgh Captains' Benevolent Association. ......The New Albany <Ledger> says: "Capt. Gracy has chartered the<Poland> to Capt. Jerome H. Duncan, to ply in the mail line between here and Evansville during the lower water season." ......The purchasers of the <Kate French>, which was sold at Portland on the 11th inst., by order of the Chancery Court of Kentucky, were Mr. Thomas M unlock of Cincinnati, and Messrs Duckwall & Troxall of Portland. The price paid was $2,500 instead of $2,000 as we stated. The present owners intend to have her dismantled, and use her machinery for a new boat. ......We learn from the Memphis <Appeal> of Tuesday that Captain Clarke has consummated the trade for the steamer <Ingomar> with the Memphis and New Orleans Packet Company, paying $20,000 for the boat. ......The new steamer <Iberville>, building at Jeffersonville, is progressing towards completion, and will be launched on Saturday or Monday next. ......We understand that the <Gen'l Quitman> is on her last trip to New Orleans. She will, on the 21st inst., take the place of the <Vicksburg>, which boat will lay up for repairs. Captain White will command the <Quitman>. ......The <Bracelet> will make but two or three more trips in the trade between Louisville and this place, and the Lancaster will then take her place. The Bracelet will be taken above the Falls and placed in the Louisville and Carrollton trade. ECLIPSE SOLD.—The hull of the <Eclipse>, the great <Eclipse>, the wonder of the Western waters, that cost her first owners $160,000, has been sold to J. D. Morton & Co., of Memphis, for wharf-boat purposes. She has been stripped of her cabin, furniture, machinery, &c., and will soon be transferred to Memphis, where she will prove to be the greatest and stoutest wharf-boat in the West.
