A separate Convention of German radical Republicans, consisting of three delegates from each Slate in the Union, is to be held at Chirago on the 14th of May, I two days prior to the General Republican Convention. These delegates have already been elecled in nearly all of the States, the object being to represent the Germans of their respective communities, and secure the proper action ot the general convention to meet the demands t f the large number of Germans who now form a part of the Republican party. Ex. If the Germans propose holding a Convention a Germans, and then demand that the other Convention accode to their notion of things, we predict that the flare-up at Charleston will be nothing in comparison to what will take place at Chicago. One would think it was time for Germans to cease to ad according to their nationality, and become Americans, in the full sense ol the word. It the people who choose this conntry as their home, still ding to their old prejudices, and net in a spirit of clannishness at every election, the future of the country is none of the brightest, as it must be evident that a persist nee in such a course will soon involve us in auan hv and cousenoeal destruction. fityjr The editor of tl ie I iitltiitti.m is cer- I taiulx a genius of the first water. No oilier than a genius could have diseovereil Mich comforting deductions frow the proceeding of tin Chai lesion Convention, as is contained in the following uiragmph : Some of Ihe delegates from nine Southern Slates seeedeil from the Convention, FO j these Slates will have to appoint new delegates, OS re appoint Ihora whoholted. This Charleston Convention will mark an important era in our political history. Its proceedings have demons! rated, fatty ami deilv, that i he Democratic party is a National party, and that the Union element controls th organization. The secession of nine States from the Convention demonstrates I tie Hutiottulihf and unity of ihe Democratic etrly !
