Gillum, Cromwell, Orb, Pittsburg, Atlanticm New Orleans, Chancellor, New Orleans Lebanon, Cincinnati, Moses McLellan, Mem., D. B. Campbell, B. Green. ——— ......The <Weather> yesterday was very pleasant. In the morning it was rather cold for the season of year, but by noon the sun shone warmly and the atmosphere became pleasantly mild. <Business> was quite animated. Two or three regular packets were receiving and discharging freight, and the New Orleans boats were also at the levee taking freight on board for New Orleans. ......The <River> is falling, both here and at all points above. The Wabash is also falling fast. Our steamboats will have to hurry matters, or they will be unable to get all of the freight out, until the river becomes; too low for operations. ......<Freights> are not so plentiful since the arrival and departure of the <Magnolia>, but still considerable remains which the <Autocrat> will, doubtless, take on board. The rate has not changed, except in the item of tobacco, which has declined to $4 per hhd to New Orleans. ......The fleet and popular <Dunbar> is the mail packet to-day for Paducah. Capt. Fowler will be found on deck and Gus Dusouchet in the office. Both of these gentlemen will spare no trouble in looking alter the comfort of those who place themselves under their care. ......The <Charley Bowen> arrived yesterday morning with a large lot of hoop-poles. She left at her regular hour with a fair trip of freight. ......The <Silver Star> arrived in the morning with a fair passenger trip, but with little freight. She left at the usual hour, light. ......The <Atlantic> passed down yesterday forenoon. She barely touched long enough to stow away a little stuff. The <Atlantic> had but few passengers and not a great deal of freight. ......The <Chancellor>, loaded down until her guards touched the water, passed down. She landed, but received no freight. ......The splendid passenger packet <Grey Eagle> having changed her days of departure will hereafter leave Louisville on Tuesdays and Fridays. She will be down to-day. The <Grey Eagle> is in command of Capt. Daniels, an experienced boatman. Mr. Sam Halliday, an affable and sociable fellow, has charge of the office. ......The <Silver Star> will hereafter go to Cairo every Saturday, extending her trip fifty miles on one trip a week, and will take freight or passengers for all points below Hickman. Memphis, &c. &c Business men should make a note of this and prepare their Saturday shipments for the <Silver Star>. She leaves precisely at 12, M. ......The <D. B. Campbell> left for Bowling Green with a small lot of groceries on board. The W<. V. Gillum> also departed for South Carrollton, light. ......The ><Magnolia> arrived yesterday morning, and was at the landing the entire day, receiving freight. She shipped a large lot of tobacco, and a large quantity of corn, besides some stock. ......The <Polar Star> is said to have entered the trade between New Albany and St. Louis. ......The <New Uncle Sam>v the great calamity, No. 2—passed up yesterday without landing. She was stemming the current with only one wheel. ......The <B. J. Adams> was advertised to leave Louisville yesterday, and will be at the landing to-day. She is in command of Capt. Triplett. ......We passed through a new wharf boat, yesterday afternoon which is destined for Helena, Arkansas, and found it to be one of the most substantial and complete boats of the kind on the river. It was built, at Grandview and cost $8000. Some little freight was put aboard of it yesterday, the proprietors intending to float it to its place of destination.—<Evansville Jour. of the 14th>. That fine Wharf boat that you speak of was built by Messrs. Richardson & Dougherty, of Rockport. There were some additions, however, made to it at Grand View, after it passed out of the hands of Richardson & Dougherty the cost of which amounted to about to $2000. Messrs. Richardson & Dougherty are now engaged in making another one of the same kind, and will soon have it done.—<Rock. Dem>. ......The <Republic> left Evansville yesterday with a full cargo for New Orleans. She received 1,000 bbls pork from the <John Tompkins>. The Evansville papers are beginning to claim her.—<N. A. Ledger>. And with good reason, for she has stopped at this point for the last three or four trips, and obtained full loads. She has had excellent luck since she made this her upper terminus. THE RIVER.—We are glad to believe that the fears expressed of an overflow of the Wabash, last week, will not be realized. After coming within two feet of the dangerous point, the water began to recede on Sunday, and had fallen 18 inches up to this morning.—<Vincennes Sun 24th>. FLAT BOATS.—A couple of flat boats from above, passed the city yesterday on their way to the South. One was laden with baled hay, and the other had twentyfive thousand bushels of corn on board.— <Terre Haute Journal, 20th>. Vincennes Correspondence. VINCENNES, April 23. EDITORS JOURNAL:—Wabash river fell 2 feet in the past 24 hours. Passed up <Science, Atlanta> and <Masonic Gem. Weather cool and clear. W. H. W. ======= Rtlpl I) Unit i-n:tl. Ainu.
