Louis, Sam nirkman, Nash., Altamont, St. Louis, Sunny Side, St. Louis, Krecstonc, Cincinnati, Frod Tron, St. Louis, lTnion, Louisville, Ounhar, Padncali, The Weatier, yesterday, was dear and chilly. Fires were ootnfiirLable. In the morning there was a sprinkle of rain. The steamer Autocrat arrived yesterday, with a fine loud of passengers and freight. She left for Louisville. We are indebted to her officers for a coj.13' of her manifest and memoranda. The Union was at the landing, yesterday, with a good load. She put oil' most of her freight here, and then left for Louisville. The D. JJ. Campbell nrrived yesterday with a good load. Mr. Travis will accept our thanks for a manifest. The Campbell departs to-day at ten o'clock. She is a swift and reliable packet, and her officers are clever fellows. Shippers will please bear in mind that the Evansville favorite, Charley liou-en, will leave to-day at 12 o'clock, and hive their freight promptly on hand. Captain Dexter always has u eye to the advance ment or the interests ot our city, and it is but fair that business men should remember him in making out their bills of lading. The liowen is fast, comfortable, and commanded by the most sociable and plpttnPP I fellows on the river. Passengers will find her accommodations uu rivaled, and will never regret taking passage on her. The Kale Sarchet arrived Saturday night with n line trip. She left yesterday. Oapt. McClain reports considerable freight yet to be brought down the Wuljiifli, his OSt already having engagements for three full loads. The Freestone arrived on .Vonday morning, loaded down to the guards. Most of her. freight was for Cincinnati. She departed yesterday. The Magnolia arrived ' Saturday night. She did not. turn hack from here as she at. first intended, but left lor Louisville, having promised her passengers to carry them through. The Lne Fares departed at her regular time. Also the Dunlmr with a fair trip of passengers and freight. The Fred Tron was at the landing, yesterday, ami received considerable salt. The Lancaster No. : and Autocrat were having a friendly trial of speed on their way up the river, but we rather judge the Autocrat was too fast for her. The IrJar Star, bound for St. Lonis, was at the landing Sunday, and took on a numler of barrels of salt. A Hat boat loaded with white lime, from near Leavenworth, was here Saturday, and discharged a large quantity. We had the pleasure, last week, of accepting an invitation from Capt. Hall of tiie Silrer Star, to make a trip to l'a.hn ali on his bcuutilul little packet. After a confinement of several months in a printing office, an excursion down the Ohio, on a luxurious boat, is a blessing that we tally appreciated but cannot properly expiess. Were it uot lor the kindness of river and railroad friends, who, regardless of excuses, drag them out of their holes anil compel them to enjoy a little recieaiion, Kditors would become so fossilized, as to be totally incapable of appreciating or understanding what is meant by the " bright side of lite. ' A trip down the t hio at. this se.uson ot the year, when the forests have assumed their spring garmenls of green, and the air is redolent with erfume from the odoriferous vegetation that lines its shores, is suggestive of pleasant thoughts and fancies, and awakens rmotioi.s that refresh the soul, as a shower of tears relieves and refreshes the heart stricken with grief. Then, to k phued under the care of a gentleman missessiug the social qualities of ('apt. Rail, who, aj you pass various lcalitics, favors you with many traditions connected with ' their history, or, again, to ! informed by two such clever fellows as Messrs. Klournoy I k Bunting (who are well versed in such ! matters) at what points on the lower Ohio, I reside the most handsome ladies, who are marriageable and who .an- engaged, and a i thousand little incidents COP PI. tied with i their stcamloat experience we say In Is- 1 placed in Such hands, while ynu steam il down the river on so gallant a craft as the I Stlrer Star, is a luxury thai one must enjoy to fully understand. By the way, we will add that the Stlrer Star will tie found at the landing this morning, receiving freight for I'aducah and intermetliate iKunts. fnpn ngi i ii vviii and the Star to have all the comforls of iarger boats, and her officers to MOHMW all the traits that constitute polite and accomoda ting gentlemen. The following items are from the Louisville Cour'wr of yesterday : The Mores Me I.ellnn, in full repair, was at the whorl last evening, ami resumes her place iu the mail trade to Memphis Monday evening. She has new chimneys, and has been thoroughly n-fitted as good as ever. The tlrry Eagle came in from Henderson early yesterday morning, with a good trip of both passengers aud freight. Her departure to Henderson and all pi places has leen deferred to Tuesday. Hereafter the Greg Fugle leaves this port every Tuesday and Friday evenings. Unci.k Sam Afloat. We learn by the Atlantic that the New Uncle Sum, that has been so long aground at Island 65, had steam up Wednesday when they passed her.
