Patlou, Teunesaee Uiver. ......The <Weather>, yesterday, was rainy most of the day, and it rained hard almost all Thursday night. Should the rain prove general, we expect a bigger river than we have experienced for a long time. It is to be hoped, however, that the rain is confined to this locality. ......<Freights> were tolerably plenty, with no material change in prices. ——The <River> was about at a stand at this point yesterday, and was falling all the way up. ......The <Dunbar> left with a very good trip of freight and passengers. ......The <Charley Bowen> came in night before last with a fair trip and a heavy tow. She went up a few miles yesterday and took on a quantity of corn for re-shipment to the lower country, and returned in the evening, and is now at our wharf ready for a start for Cairo. She will leave to-day at 12 o'clock. Those wishing to go to Cairo and way points will do well to take the <Bowen>, as she is swift and reliable, and her officers, Capt. Dexter and Clerk Markell, are affable gentlemen and good steamboatmen. We advise our shippers to have their freight at the wharf at the hour, as Capt. Dexter is always prompt. ......The familiar face and outlandish whistle of the <Grey Eagle> were distinguishable at our wharf yesterday afternoon. We are happy to state that she will remain permanently in her old trade between Louisville and Henderson, and will carry the mail when the mail contract is completed. She passes here Thursdays and Sundays. ......The <Silver Star>, in command of Capt, Hall, assisted by Clerks Flournoy and Bunting, will take her departure to-day for Paducah and all way points. The <Star> is too well known in this community to need any comment on her accomodations from us. The mere mention of the fact that she leaves to-day will, we have no doubt, insure her a first-rate trip of passengers and freight. Don't forget the <Star>. ......The <Poland>, snagged near Aurora, is at Cincinnati undergoing repairs. ......The <Anglo Saxon> is loading at Portsmouth for St. Louis and and Quincy direct. ......The <Woodford> passed down with a good trip. She took some freight have a [fold] ......We see it stated in a New Orleans journal that the <Doubloon> cleared $35,000— a sum somewhat more than her cost— Red river, in four months and a half. ......The New Orleans <Picayune> of Tues- dy says: The <C. D. Jr>. has been laid up for the present. She will leave in a few days for Louisville, where she will be dismantled, and her machinery put into one of the new boats which the Bayou Sara U. S. Mail Line is now building. ......The Louisville <Democrat> of yesterday says: Yesterday was a warm, cloudy, drizzly, damp day. The river was falling tolerably fast, having fallen in all about twenty inches. ......The Cincinnati <Gazette>, says competition is running high betweeu the St. Louis Express Line and the <Sunny Side>. The rates of course have been cut down, and shippers are having the best of the bargain. ......From the Memphis <Avalanche> we learn that Capt. J. H. Freligh is at present in that city, with a view to organizing an Association whereby a regular line of boats shall be kept up between Memphis and New Orleans Arkansas river is still falling. Only twenty -six inches are found to Pine Bluff, and about twenty thence to Little Rock. The mail packets go up as high as the Bluff, where they counect with the little steamer <Leon>, which takes their mails and passengers to the Rock. ......We clip the following from the St. Louis <Republican> of yesterday morning: The river here commenced rising slowly, on Wednesday night, and up to last evening had risen about one inch and a half. There is 7 1/2 in the channel out to Cairo. The Illinois river is falling, with 5 feet in the channel from Peoria down to the mouth. The upper Mississippi is falling from St Paul down, with four feet on the upper, and 32 inches on the lower Rapids. Below Keokuk there is five and a half feet water in the channel. The Missouri river is falling rapidly, with 3 1/2 feet in the channel from Weston to the mouth. "ST. JOSEPH, April 19. —Water still falling and the river is very low; it is worse above this point than it has been previously this season. The <Omaha> arrived down this morning." The weather was cloudy and cool yesterday morning, and business was lively on the landing. ......The Vincennes <Sun> of yesterday evening says: DANGER OF A FRESH [sic].—The river has continued to rise since our last; it rose five inches last night, and is now within 6 1/2 feet of the highest flood marks. We have had heavy rains since last evenibg. Great fears are entertained of an overflow in the lower prairie. We learn that at Terre Haute the river was at a stand yesterday evening, and weather showery. ......The steamer <Tiger> ran into the <Red Chief>, on Ouachita river, on Tuesday last, damaging her to the amount of $500.— [<Memphis Appeal>. oi nis mrin, seems to nave iaeu u . iatlSIactorily" as COUiU be liopeu, in an respects. All business was .su.snen.le.il. 1 lie I day was clear, though warm, and the pro fession, which contained in its ranks full 5,000 persons, was very imposing. The military, the Masons, and tbe lienevolenl organizations, the school children and firemen, were all present in full force, and the windows and sidewalks were filled with spectators. After passing through I he various streets which had been previously designated tor the line of march, the. procession returned to Canal street, and gathered around the statue, which was vailed in a new and bright American Hag. The military formed a compact square around the area, within which the ceremonies were to be performed. The Masons, in solemn inarch, circled around the statue, and halted at its foot, where they formed a glittering group. The spacious platform encircled by flags was handsomely arranged, but, owing to the intense heat, could not be occupied, as was i desigued, by the ladies. The Clay Monumental Association had principal charge and the prominent place on the platform. The venerable Robert .). Ward, so long the friend and neighbor of Henry Clay, presided over the ceremonies. At a signal from the Grand Marshal, the guns were fired, the flag which enveloel the statue slowly desconded, and suddenly the eloquent image of the great orator and statesman stood revealed in all its majesty, beauty and impressiveness. Several minutes elapsed before the music ol the numerous bands could be beard above the popular plaudits. As soon as silence was restored, the Masons began their ceremonies of dedication, prefaced by an address from the Grand Master, and a prayer from the Grand Chaplain. The usual rites of the pouring of oil, wine and corn were performed. Tbe Mayor of the city proposed from the stand three cheers for th sculptor Hau, which were given with great enthusiasm. The orator of the occasion, Wii. 11. Hiwr, was then introduced anil delivered an address. The delivery of the oralis closed the ceremonies. Cin. tlnz. Ibon in 1'um.aoklpuia.
