Fred Trun, St. Louis, Greenville, R. Green, Lebanon, Cincinnati, t-liver Moon, Memphis, Union, Louisville, J. S. Priugle, Pittsburg, Charley Bowen, Cairo, Wenona, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Memphis. , The Wealter, Saturday, was windy to a disagreeable extent oa Water street, ami the levee dust flew in such quantities as to almost blind those attempting to do business. It is to be hoped that the wind may yet cause a rain, and thus recompense us for the inconvenience it ha3 occasioned U3 for several days past. The following boats departed on Saturday : The Cliarley Dowcn with a fair trip for Cairo. She had in tow the new wharf-boat which ha3 betn at the landing for several days, and which is destined, we believe, for Alton, iilinoia. The D. II. Campbell, light for Howling Green. The Union arrived with a good load, which she put off, then departed for Louisville. The Masonic Gem left for Cincinnati, where she intends loading for the Arkansas river. The Kentucky passed down light. She has liecn sold to the Memphis Mail Company. Capt. Sherley of the Louisville and Cairo Mail Company was on board. The D. D. Campbell did not leave Saturday as we anticipated. She departs punctually to-day at 10 o'clock. The Bracelet was sold on Thursday by Capt. Vanraeter to the owners of the SsiatQ No. 2, for the sum of 12,500. She will bo in charge of Capt. Ballard, assisted in the office by Mr. A. Duvall. She will continue for the present in the Arkansas river trade. ...... The Kentucky was sold by Capt. Sherley, sayg the Courier, for $25,000, receiving in payment the Highflyer at 20,000. That is some like the fellow who sold his dog for $100, but took the pay in i coaple of pups at $00 each. The Memphis Enquirer, of Wednesday, has the following ; The Vicksburgh packet, II, D. Mears, had her larboard guards badly torn during the storm, Saturday night. Her officers report the gale, which lasted about three minutes, as having been terrific ; houses wore unroofed and blown down, while trees were tarn np by the roots and carried along for hundred of yard3. The Hears was tied above Goodrich's landing. She had two stout cables out, both of which were snapped off a3 though they were thread. With both wheels going ahead, she was blown down the river at the rate of twenty-fic miles an hour; her damages were slight. Receipts liy River. FROM BOWLING GREEN, run Camphkll. 53 hhda tobacco, I. Varieties. Isn't it strmge that out blacksmiths are always blowing and striking for wages ? A modern tourist calls the Niagara River " the pride of river3." The pride certainly has a tremendous fall. Tuerk are now in the New York Stale Lunatic Asylum 210 female, and 275 male patients. A dill has been introduced in the Alabama Legislat-ir to transport all negroes convicted of capital ollerics into Massachusetts. Thk New York Herald says that for thirty years the ship building interest has not been so depressed ns it is at the present time. Thesb inevitable hanger3-on at all great gatherings, the thieves, have already become domiciled in Charleston, South Carolina, and commenced operations. Capt. Gkafton Wallrii died at Maysville, Friday, from disease of the heart, lie was commander for many years on the river. Thk English papers say that numbers of Roman and other coins have lately lwen dug up near Corfe Castle. Among them is one representing Romulus and Remus with the wolf. Tuk subject of a reunion of the Methodist Episcopal Church, North and South, is being extensively discussed in various papers of the Church, the present year being the oentennary auivcrsary of Methodism in the United States. Thb Philadelphia Ledgt r suites that the arrangements for lighting the Girard House with Water Gas are nearly completed, aud that in a few weeks the economy of this kind of pas will be made manifest by a practical test. A womax, named Mrs. L'ilansky, was hung at St. PauL Minnesota, on the 2 2d inst. The crime of which she was couvicted was the poisoning of her husband. She denied her guilt to the last. Puoro of tub Craft. We sue by our exchanges from New Jersey that, the tyie settars ore felicitating themselves upon the apparent morality of their craft. One of these pillars remarks: "The printers of New Jersey lajast that there is not a single printer in the Slat Prison of the State, and but one in the Legislature." N. Y. W. The printers needn't be ipi'ilt so proud. There are half a dozen of them in Conjures? . Exchange.
&gL.Jonc3 was traveling with his wife, and (tor a freak) was so gallant in his behavior to his cara tposa, that madam grew uneasy "aud remonstrated against his attentiouii as too marked for public observation. "The d 1 1" said Jones, "we're married, 1 suppose'". ."Yes," said the lady, "but, judging by your deportment, folks will think ice aintr "Well, what of it?" said Jones. "Why, not much, certainly for you," said the careful damo -'you nre man, but we women have our characters to take care ol." Jones wa3 shocked into propriety for the rost of the journey.
A Vine Worth Having. -A poor woman in the county of Santa Barbara, California, has but one grape-vine. This bore, in 1857, live thousand bunches of grapes, each bunch weighing over a pound, yielding her the handsome some of four hundred dollars. When a girl, on leaving Monterey, for her present home, she picked vpa vine-cutting to drive her mule. This cutting she planton her arrival, and atter the lapse of seven ycar3 such is the result. Effects of Bad Company. There are three lads of this village now in the jail here, one of whom is a colored boy. On tle day after the boys were put in confinement, the father of the colored boy paid a visit to his recreant son, and thus addressed him: "Haven't I whipped you, talked to you, and locked yon np ? And haven't I always told you that if you associated with these d d little white cun.ies you would bring up hero ?" Ogle Reporter. ' The war with Morocco is estimated to have cost Spaiu S25,000 and 15,000 lives, for which she has conquered a city not worth the keeping. So declare her own journals. The number of Mormons in Utah i3 put down at 33,000. Of these, 4,072 men have 20,500 wives. " The report from tho Arlesinn well yesterday is a depth of sixty feet. The last layer of gravel was got through at fifty feet, and " hard-pan" came next. In this they have bored a distance often feet. State Sent. Glh.
