In the evening it became cloudy wllh indications of more rain. "' The River continues to decline slowly. The slight rain of Saturday night will have no material effect on the streams. Boatmen are anxiously looking for more rain, as all of the rivers arc becoming in an unnavigable condition. . - Businesx, yesterday, was exceedingly dull. There were uumerous arrivals and departures, but they brought but little freight and took away but little. Freights are becoming scarce, Imt remain unchanged in price. As the case now stands, unless the river becomes quite; low, there is a probability that the rates will be reduced. The railroad packet, Charley Down, will depart to-day for Cairo at her usual hour, 12 o'clock. CapU. Dexter anJMarkall are very pleasant gentlemen and carefully look after the comfort of their passengers. We trust the Charley Euivcn will be favored with all the freight to go South to-day. The Autocrat will Ie due this morning from New Orleans. She will to ljouiiville, and return in a couple or three days. The Anglo Saxon having got all tho water out of her, and patched up the holes in her hull, left for Cincinnati on Sunday night, where she will undergo repairs. He is a native of Virginia, was rriarried in Pulaski county, Kentucky, in 1S13 his venerable lady is still living and ejnigrated to this county in 1816. They have had sixteen children, twelve sons and four daughters, all living,, and sixty-six grand children. Mr. II. is an Old School Baptist minister, and has married over one thousand couple. .. It may not lc inappropriate to mention in this connection that Warrick comity was organized in 1813, and that the county seat at that time fixed at "old Arlington." That "town," however, has long since "gone lutck," and nothing now remains to designate the spot wln-re it once stood, except tbc ruins of an old log cabin. Posey and Vanderburgh counties, and a considerable portion of Spencer county, were then included in Warrick. The whole Dumber of votes polled at the first election held in the county, we are told, was only fortynine! Now the nggregate vole of the three counties aloue, is about 9,000. Among the early, reminiscences of Hie county we will mention the fact, that in 1821, when General Jackeon was a candidate for the Presidency, Inreceived but fe vole in Ohio township, and that vote was catt by Hon.
