Union, Loo., Caroline, Cincinnati, fit. Cloud, Pittsburg, Sucker State, St. Louis, R. M. I'attoo, Lou., Alma, St. Louis, Science, Wabash. ——— ......The <Weather>, yesterday, would have been very pleasant, if not so insufferably dusty. A cool wind was blowing the greater portion of the day, and clouds of dust obstructed the streets, filling the eyes, mouths and noses of pedestrians with the irritating particles. ......The <River> was falling quite rapidly. It was also falling above, except at Pittsburg, where a slight rise had taken place. ......<Freights> are still plenty, notwithstanding the huge load taken by the <Autocrat>. The prices rule about the same as last quoted. There are several Wabash
boats due, whose cargoes will again cover our lauding. ......The <Dunbar> will be on hand to receive passengers and freight for Paducah this day at 12 o'clock. She always departs punctually at the advertised hour. ......The <Lue Eaves> is the regular packet for South Carollton this afternoon. Capts. McDonald and Taylor will be happy to look after the comfort of all who may take passage with them. ......The <Autocrat> was at the landing all day yesterday, and received on board one of the finest trips of the season. ......<The Masonic Gem> arrived late last night with a full load. She will depart this evening. Freight destined for the Wabash will be promptly delivered if consigned to the <Gem>. ......The <Kate Sarchet> and <John Tompkins> were both due last night, and are reported to be full of freight. ......The <Science>, from Pittsburgh, with a good load, was at the landing last night. She left for the Wabash.
......The <Alma> put off a large lot of freight last night. ......At a late hour last night, the <Autocrat> was still receiving freight. We shall not be able to publish her shipments in full before to-morrow. We were informed that a beautiful Bible was presented to the officers of the boat by some of its friends and admirers, yesterday afternoon. ......The <Caroline> arrived yesterday. Her freight with the exception of a few articles of sundries was destined for Cincinnati, for which city the <Caroline> departed yesterday afternoon.
......The steamer <Union> arrived last night with a fair trip. We are under obli-
gations to her gentlemanly Clerk, Mr Jenkins, for a copy of her manifest. The <Union> unloaded most of her freight and departed for Louisville.
......The want of New Orleans boats that
will not discriminate against this and neigh-
boring places in favor of older and more
fortunate ones, is severely felt by our shippers. The same hardship is felt at Mt. Vernon, as the following from the <Advocate>
testifies: "Although every opportunity for re-ship-ping freight has been embraced, the ship-
ments have not been large, owing to the scarcity of boats. This has become a great and growing embarrassment to our shippers, and it certainly behooves them to endeavor to improve their facilities ere another year elapses." We believe another such an Evansville and New Orleans boat as the<Autocrat>, to run on alternate fortnights with her, so as
to form a weekly line, would be a paying institution. We heard a gentleman, well
acquainted with river matters, declare that four Evansville and New Orleans boats,
making a semi-weekly line, would pay bet-
ter than one, for the reason that the certainty of having freight gotten off promptly from here, would bring much more of it this way; and also because four boats would be more able to compete with the up-river influences, and to make their own rates with less regard to other boats not belonging to this trade. However it may be in regard to the profit of four boats, there is no doubt that another one, forming a weekly line, would be well sustained. Who, identified with Evansville interests, will put her in? ......We learn from the Terre Haute <Journal that the steamer <Alida> was run into by the steamer <John Tompkins>, one day last week, and damaged to a considerable extent, though not enough to interfere with her regular trips up and down the river. ......Capt. J. W. Smith, of the steamer <Red Wing>, intends to contract for a new boat at Evansville, to be put in the New Orleans and Arkansas river trade.—<New Albany Ledger>. We guess that is a mistake. None of our people know anything about it. Receipts tty River. ! FROM BOWLING GREEN, peh SteajiBR Uxios 58 hhds tobacco, 5 bbls eggs, .J boxes fruit trees, I A. No oae remedy is louder culled for by the necessities of the American people than a sure and safe cure for Fever ami Ague. Such a rruiedy we are now enabled to offer, with a perfect certainty that it will eradicate the disease, aud with itssurance, founded ou proof, that no harm can arise froui its use in anv quantity. That which protects froui or prevents this disorder miixt be of immense service iu the communities where it prevails. Prevention is better than cure, for the patient escaiws the risk which he must run in violent attacks of this baneful distemper. This Cure " expels the miasmatic poison ot Fever and Ague from the stem, anil prevents the development of the disease, if takeu on the first approach of its premonitory symptoms. It is not only the best remedy ever yet discovered for this class of complaints, but also the cheapest. The large quantity we supply for a dollar brings it within the reach of everybody ; aud in billions districts where Fever and Ague prevail, everybody should have it and use it freely, both for cure and protection. It is hoped that this price will place it within the reach of ail the poor as well as the rich. A great superiority of this remedy over any other discovered for the speedy aud certain cure of Intermitteuts is, that it coutaina no Ouiuiue r mineral, consequently it produces no quinism or other injurious effects whatever upon the constitution. Those cured by it are left as healthy as ii they had never Lad the disease. Fever and ague is not alone the consequence of the miasmatic poison. A great variety of disorders arise from its irritation, among which are Neuralgia, Rheumatism, Gout, Headache, Blindlies, Toothache, Earache, Catarrh, Asthma, Palpitation, Painful Affection of tne pleeii. Hysterics, Pain in the Bowels, Cholic, Paralysis, aud Derangemeutor the stomach, all of which, when originating in this cause, put ou the intermittent type, or become periodical. The ' Cure" exfiels the poison from the blood, and consequently cures them all alike. It is au invaluable protection to immigrants and persons traveling or temporarily residing in the malarious districts. If taken occasional. y or daily while ex h wed to the infection, that will lie excreted Irum the svstem, and cannot accumulate iu suftic-eut quantity to riali into diieae. Hence it is even more valuable for protrctou than cure, and few will suffer from Intermittents, if they avail themselves of the protection this rented v affords. Uy Prepared by DR. J. C.
