EIVEK ITEMS. s t'fif Regular Packets expecting notices of their running arrangements in the Journal, must advertise teith us. All kinds of Steamboat Job Work done at short notice, in good style, and at reasonable rates. Extra copies lof the paper for sale at all times. , f The Weather, yesterday, was delightfully pleasant. Ia the morning the air was cool, but at noou and in the evening it be- ; came quite warm. The weather at Piits- ! burg was damp. i The River at this point was falling. f At Cincinnati it fell some three feet in 24 hours. At Pittsburg it was on a stand, j ' owing to a slight rain. - t The Bowling Green arrived on Sun- ' day with a fair trip. We return our thanks to Mr. Croxall, for a copy of her manifest. ' She took on a lot of merchandise and left I yesterday for Bowling Green. v. The Lue Eaves arrived on Sunday. Capt. Taylor, as is his custom, favored us f with a manifest. The Eaves had some of ; her machinery taken to pieces to make some I repairs, but had everything all right Xxt de part last night. The Dunbar left yesterday noou with the Crescent Hand on board, who disI coursed lively music as the steamer gaily j swept by the landing. The Diana was at the landing Sun- . day after noou and received a good lot of freight. The Diana reported that the Auto- , crat arrived at Louisville about 11 o'clock r Saturday night at least one hour before - the Atlantic. When it is taken into consideration that the Atlantic had only one landing to make between our city and Louisville, and that the Autocrat had to make six, besides stopping to coal, it must be seen that the Atlantic lost, instead of gaining, time on the Hoosier boat, between here and Louisville. We presume the proprietor of the " Arcade " has paid over the keg of beer he staked on the Atlantic's beating the Autocrat to Louisville. We apprehend that when Capt. Scott makes up his mind to test the speed of his boat, she will astonish several who now doubt her capacity to make quick time. The Freestone arrived last night from the Wabash river with a huge trip. She had a barge in tow, loaded with corn, for Aurora; tor which place the Freestone departed last night. The Persia and Fred. Tron passed down last night. They both put off some liMtefreight. The memoranda and manifest of the up trip of the Autocrat we failed to get until yesterday morning;. We publish them in another place. This spleudid steamer was detained by having her crew " jump '' ber as she was leaving Louisville, and did not arrive here until last evening. She will complete her load at this place, and leave for New Orleans this afternoon. Her accommodations are superb, and her ofticers spare no pains to make their boat pleasant. The following shipments were ,dtr--tiie Woodford, on Sunday J&Sruing: 71 hhds tobacco, 342 bbl.i Hour, 5 casks meat, 4 bbs eggs, 1 bid and 2 kegs bu tter, E. S. Uabcock ; 1 500 sks corn, 65 hhds tobacco, J. S. Mitchell Se Co. f The following freight was taken by the Diana: 31 csks meat, 44 bids meat, 2b "ls whisky, 1817 nks corn, 24 sks bran, 2(5 umesluiy, I. A. Crane & Uo; 988 sks corn, 8t sks irvnn. 8 lilils ecus. 12. K. l.alicock : 727 sks corn 49(1 sks bran, I. O. O'Kiloy k Co. .. The Aurora, that lay at the landing some time on Saturdiv, took on board TU8 bags of corn, from 1. (J. O'lliley & Co. The ld dredging boat, Empire, which has been quite an eye-sore lor some time, was yesterday towed by the Maul of the Mist to the mouth of L'igoon, to prevent her from getting aground any more. Wc think the thing might have been profitably done some time ago. On her last trip the W. II. Langlcy run a distance ot twelve miles into the Cow bayou, a stream never before navigated by a steamer. The ba vou alluded to is a tribu tary to the St. Francis river. Cunt. J. n . Smith, of the steamer Red Wing, intends to contract for a new twuil at Evansville, to be put in the New Orleans end Arkansas river trade. Lou. Jour. Rertlpts ly Itlver.
