Carrolton, Favorite, St. Louis, Lehigh, St. Louis J. H. Done, Wabash. ——— ......The <Weather>, yesterday, was warm and hazy, presenting more the appearance of Indian Summer than the middle of March. We should think, from the oppressiveness of the atmosphere, that not a great many hours will elapse before we shall be favored with a good rain, which will give vegetation a fine start, and Spring will have donned her gay apparel. ......Business on the levee was fair. The <Done> and <Masonic Gem> were piling up the freight; the carpenters and painters were hammering and brushing away at the <Charley Bowen>, and troops of drays were passing to and fro, depositing and taking away produce and merchandise. ......We learn from good authority that the <McLellan> is to take the place of the <Scioto> between hero and Louisville. Capt. Pierce of the Mail Company is now at Washington to secure a permit from the Post Office Department to transfer the mail contract into the hands of the owners of the <Grey Eagle> and <McLellan>, who will deliver the mail at all points between our city and Louisville. We did not learn what arrangements, if any, have been made for the delivery of the mail to the points between here and Cairo. ......The <J. H. Done> left late in the evening with a good trip. She took on board about 900 bbls of salt for the Wabash country. The <Masonic Gem> left during the night for Mount Carmel. ......The< Masonic Gem> arrived early yesterday morning, loaded to the guards. Mr. McDonald, as usual, furnished us with a manifest, for which he will accept our thanks. ......Mr. Duncan of the <Grey Eagle> informed us yesterday that the crew of the Uncle Sam "jumped her," just as she was getting up steam to leave Louisville. This occasioned some delay on the part of that steamer. ......The <Grey Eagle> was at the landing yesterday morning, being near 12 hours behind time. Her delay was occasioned by her crew, who deserted in a body just as she was leaving Louisville. She brought one of the finest trips of the season. ......We were informed by Mr. McDonald, at a late hour last night, that the <Mason ic Gem> would not leave till this morning at 9 o'clock. The <Gem> is one of the most reliable boats that run up the Wabash, and she should be supplied with all the freight that goes up the Wabash to-day. ......The <Uncle Sam> came down last night. Her load, however, was very nearly completed, and she received very little freight at this point. This was a disappointment to our commission men, who were anticipating the shipment of a large quantity of produce. Receipts by River.
