Mr. Decker estimates that at least one half of his grapes fell from the Tines before the picking season. Ilad the Tines retained all the fruit that grey.to its full size, he thinks his vineyard would hare yielded 1,200 gallons to the acre. The expense attending the vineyard and manufacturing the win is about $C00 per anauia. It is a very pleasant, as well as lucrative business.' Why are not all those beautiful hills to the northwest of the city crowned with vineyard5, instead of the unsightly bushes and decaying trees that sow cover them ? . He denies, in most emphatic terms, that he had any knowledge of Brown's ' movements, or any complicity, directly or indirectly, in the affair. Certain counties in the seven States, of which only these maps were obtained, beir cross mark3 formed by a pen, and in several instances as if to command greater particularity of attention, or to suggest, perhaps, more available points of attack, circular7 lines are .drawn around the crossesi. Eight hundrtd ; and fifty military officers, and not less than 15,000 or 18,000 men were concerned in' it. It was started by Sheik Ahmed, a man who has had much iuf lence in the councils of the government, and who deplored the present state of public affairs. . The plan was to capture, if not to kill, the Sultan and his ministers, and to place his son or brother on the throne. One of the conspirators made known the project, and the leaders were all seized. CgA military company, composed of several hundred fat men, not one of whom weighed less, than two hundred pounds, pa raded one day last week in New xork, aad marched to Turtle Bay, to enjoy an annual feast. Among them were some very thick, fat fellows, and the company appeared like a jolly set of good live3. Most of them were Germans. ' They had a, fat and funny looking standard-bearer, in the person of an exceedingly monstrous" negro, the fattest of the whole company, who bore the target, which seemed like a toy in bis bands. What an clyseum woulJ such a money market be to the anxious borrow ers at 1 J anil 2 per cent, a month in one of our Western cities. 'Capital, like water, it is said, will always find a level. . There is a great vacuum in the Northwest, which this abundance of cheap money in England might fill if it were set free in this direction. But the chasm to be filled is so deep, that it is not probable there would ever be any re turn current from it. The Lnflckscs or Mechanic's ix Build ixg i p a citt.
