He is umpire between teachers and the over indulgent parents ; and the chief i ean for relinquishing his post, in f he vf rations and injudicious interference of friends with the rules and discipline of the schools, and the little aid and sympathy whieh both teachers and superintendent receive from parents and citizens in maintaining an efficient government of the schools. The strongest inducements which those who have the prosperity of the schools at heart, can give to the superintendent to re-assume his dutiea, is to assmc him of their hearty o-operation in maintaining his authority by giving him their moral ruppotf. We have heard of citizens, who, instead of sustaining the authority of teachers and superintendent .ve tried to stimulate ignorant and excited parents, to bring suits against both for inflicting proper punishment upon unruly children, whose evil habits were the result of improper management at home.
