Our exchanges, generally, speak of good prospects for a large crop in tiieir immediate vicinity. The Lafayette Courier says the farmers in that section are 'training every nerve to get in a corn crop, and adds that the area planted will be largelj in excess of any previous year. Fanners keep their nlows running in the evening so long as they could see the furrows, and the Courier says it is stated as a positive fact that the Quakers in one township were in the field on the Sabbath, planting corn. They ought not to let their 'cal in raising corn get the better of tiieir religion at that rate. Wheat along the Wabash bottoms is aaid to be seriously damaged by the Hood, but as the greater part of these lands are used for raising corn, and that promises to be unusually good, the damage to the wheat will uot be felt so seriously. The peach crop in Jackson county is badly injured by the frost. The Indiauapolis Journal, however, says, .Still we. shall certainly have some of that very rare fruit in this State, and that i:- more than we have had before for a long time, except in favored I localities, in tbe ncrathern secUou. The wind blew a perfect hurricane across the prairie, and so dense was the snow that an object could not be discerned at ten feet distance. To add to the calamity, they got lost, and at night Perot separated from Major Vaughan, and was not heard of afterwards. All efforts to communicate with him were of no avail, and the Major pursued his journey. For three days and nights he kept traveling his horse, with wonderful instinct, discovered the trail of another animal, belonging to D. M. Frost Co., followed it, and brought up finally at Sun River Valley, from which the Major had taken his departure. During all this time, he had nothing to cat, and when he reached camp it was found that his cheeks, nose, fingers and toes, were frostbitten, and it required great effort to relieve him from the pain thus produced. As soon as possible, thereafter, two Indians and three white were dispatched, to find Mr. Perot, but it was only to discover his dead body, greatly disfigured by the attacks of wolves, c. THE BJBT WMJVTBM J.VO SPRIKG to far, hare been very wet ones, causing many of onr river to overflow their hanks, backing np the water in the creeks and bayous, aud flooding to a considerable extent tbe bottom land ; when the rlfors recede, which may he expected soon, then the large surface of decaying vegetable matter exposed to the scorching ravs of the summer snn, produces the malaria, which proves so fatal in it course, (weeping whole States, and sparing neither age nor sex in its conquering march. After a residence of more than twenty years in the middle and Sonthern Htates, wk think we I. a-, discovered a medicine which, to a certain extent, is a preventative of the attacks of bilious tever, iig ue, a? , and aa such we recommend onr Magnolia Whisky. We wish the public to nuderitand that we are uot urging upon them the use of strong Liquors as abeverage Weare, andalw)shae been, oppoaedt'. their being used in that way, but if people will use them aa uch, let them have by all means n pure Article, that will keep them in health, and Wngthen instead of shortening their Htm. Wa propose to sell always pure and unadulterated Liquors for medicinal purposes, and a little for the tomnch' sake, if required, and Witt challenge an Inspection by tbe belt chemist iu this or any other country, tc And any impurity or adulteration fn the whisky branded by ua, "Alii A Howe' Magnolia." It ia warranted, a it Is dJtllled from th corn, iv.-. or het. with a slight addition of good ciarern water. We have no doubt many person have been ruined iu health, if not actually killed, py drinking Ifad whisky, the greater the reason that Allis A Ho wee' purs Magnolia should be in general use.
