Misgovernment has excited the people to such an extent that their attention most be diverted from the governments to something ele, in order topreYent domestic revolution; and the headn ofthe great powers have adopted the usual plan of baring them commence killing one another. Bra general war it is hope 1 a great number of turbulent spirits who are always prating o' social equalization and uch plebian nonsense may be put out of the way, and crowned heads, thereby, obtain a new lease of p. cr. By the arrival of tbe Anglo Saxon, we

But the most significant event, and the on which has created the greatest conster nation in England, is the alliance offensive and defensive formed between France and Russia, which was concluded on the J'Jd ult. Thi3 alliance deprives English statesmen of all hopes of keeping clear of the impending -ll struggle. Accordingly we see it announced that the British channel fleet has sailed with sealeai orders, but its destination is upposed to be the Adriatic In addition to j this movement of the fleet, the whole militia fore of the kingdom is to be embodied and placed on a more warlike footing As an indication of the effect the war i? likely to have upon this country, we notice that breadstuffs are advancing and cotton is on the derlin. Large numbers have alo died in l'eoi ia county, from the same cause. ———<>——— Latest from Kansas. A letter dated Leavenworth, Kansas, May 3d, and published in the Cincinnati <Times>, of Saturday last, gives us late intelligence from that territory . A letter had been received at Leavenworth from A. C. Smith, Esq., formerly of Cincinnati, now at Denver City, near Pike's Peak, in which he states that the country in the vicinity of Pike's Peak is much more favorable for agricultural purposes that is generally supposed; also that several small farms and gardens are in process of cultivation. Mr. Smith says that the mines in the Bayou Salado (North Park ) diggings are yielding ahout $10 per day, to miners using rockers. The discoveries there, consists of shot gold, which grows coarser the deeper they penetrate— a favorable indication. He states that in the immediate vicinity of Denver City, and at various other points, the mines are paying well, and asserts that the unfavorable reports come from persons who lack the perseverance and energy requisite to success in <any> country. B admits, however, that on the other side many wilful [sic] misstatements have been sent back to the States. It seems, however, that Mr. Smith's statements are to be taken with some degree of allowance; for he bases his favorable impressions more upon what he <hopes> to discover, than upon what he has actually seen. On the 7th ult., John Stuffle, charged with the murder of his brother in-law, Antoine Beingraff—a German from Louisville was lynched by an indignant mob, and hung at Denver City. The father of Beingraff was also missing, and on the suspicion that a combination had been formed to murder him and his son for their money, another son and son-in-law were also arrested, and about to be tried, when the letter closed. The rush from Eastern Kansas to the mines has, perhaps, slightly abated; but every steamboat and train of cars from the East, is still loaded with Pike's Peak emigrants.
