The attention of manufacturers of agricultural iinplemwiiis, aud theraisersof small grain, iainvit ed to a recent and most valuable improvement in the construction of the Harrow, invented by V. M. Chafee, of Grayville, Illinois. Iu this new implement the teeth are inserted in two self revolving horizontal wheels, by which the furrow of the teeth are made to cross the line of the direction of the harrow, and as the teeth go round the circuit of the wheel every time the harrow moves forward the length of the diameter of the wheel, each tooth has jnst three times the effect of a tooth in a straight harrow, couseipjently it does its work far lietter, and more of it. Once passing over the ground with this harrow, leaves it better harrowed than by two passages with the ordinary harrow. It is much lighter draft upon the team, and what must be a great consideration wtih every practical farmer, in lassitig over com or stubble ground, it keeps itself eutitvly free of stalks, as by its actioii it scatters them en each side of it. The Inventor proposes to sell the right to inannactuie these Harrows, for any given Territory, either Counties or States, at moderate prices, lie w-itl also sell single Harrows, and on tbe receipt of $15 be will ship a good six teet Harrow to any part of the country, the purchaser paying freight. We do not desire to interfere with the prolossionul ethics of ur medical schools, nor do we possess any skill in pharmaceutics, but fir. Graves has oiened to our inspection a mass of letters from his agent aud mojt resjie -table drugjjUts in all parts of the country, which commend his family medicines in the highest terms. They meet with a very extended sale, which of itself is an excellent recommendation. W ulways teel reluctant to make any endorsement of medicines, but there are so many localities where no regular practitioners are within reach, and so many diseases w hich require prompt remedies, that a supply of the prescriptions prejKirea by Dr. Graves, couuuruded as they are tor efficiency, would prove almost iovaluable. In all cases of nickne-ss, our hit advice is to call the aid of a physician, but, if that is impracticable, it seems to us that Dr. Graves niters remedial agents in ague, cholera morbua, Ac, w hich may be safely used, as he gives assurance that no deleterious componnds are used iu their preparation.
