ÖJA small farmer, by the name of Messinger, in Highland county, Ohio, who had heretofore sustained a good ' character, was detected with a lot of counterfeit money, and when confronted with the charge, he confessed that he receired the money from certain parties in Philadelphia, and produced letters in relation thereto, which arc now in the hands of a magistrate, and clearly reveal the existence of a large society of villain called The Mystic Circle of Alchemy." The letters are written in cypher, and arc signed with fictitious names. The pass word for the present year is M Death." The initiation fee is $3, and members en entering are sworn to secresy. In their slang the word "pills," is used to represent bogus coin, and "powders" designates counterfeit paper. Steps hare been taken for the arrest of the leaders at Philadelphia. Messingcr implicates many respectable men in his own vicinity, as dealers with the Can?5"w Military Ddpot is Utau. The Government have determined to make Fort Bridger in Utah the military depot for that Territory. A survey of the reservation of land for the post has been ordered. It will be an oblong figure, twenty-five miles by twenty, and embracing all the wooded and grazing lands in the neighborhood of the post. These lands are limited in the vicinity of Fort Bridger, but the wide boundaries of the reservation will enclose an area of woods and grass commensurate with all the immediate or remote requirement of the Government. Fort Bridger, it has been decided, i3 the best site for a military post in Utah, whether for carrying on operations against the Indians or the whites cf that Territory. : gy Dr. Lyman is described as now qnitc feeble; his memory has signally failed; he hesitates at plain wonL, while all his auditors know what is wanted ; and it is often quite painful to hear him speak.
