CUMMINGS EXPELLED FROM SALT LAKE CITY.—By a despatch from Fort Leavenworth, it is reported that a messenger had arrived from Camp Scott, with intelligence up to the 6th of May, who states that Gov. Camming had been driven from Salt Lake City, and that the Mormons had determined to resist the troops to the last extremity.— Col Johnson's men were said to be existing on mule meat. Col. Hoffman's command was met 75 miles beyond Fort Laramie, making its way through snow three feet deep. — The Peace Commissioner, Messrs. Powell and McCullough, had also passed Fort Laramie. ----- ----->It is now charged that the army trains which were reported to have been destroyed by Mormons last autumn near Fort Bigler [Bridger], were, in fact, destroyed by the contractors themselves, who got more by the destruction of the property than they would have realized by completing their contract. ----- ----->The House Judiciary Committee have unanimcualy reported again.t a National ßankrupt Law, a unconstitutional and inexpedient. - Arw Urleana Sfarket. A friend who has been voyaging over the Wabash bot torar. in boats and steamers, represent. the whole Valley to be a lake, in width reaching ten and fifteen miles from shore to shore; and almost requiring a compass to navigate it. He was ferried from Vincennes to Lawrenocville, in Illinois, a distance of ten miles, over the - water, passing over a settled and cultivated region of country, now submerged from six to ten feet deep. - From Law re nee v tile, he skirled the highland on Western borders of the valley to Hutconville, and the tioodscov ered the hot loins for the whole distance. It presented a vast and painful fecne o destruction; deserted houses standing in thö waste of waters, fences gone, and in places the heads of the stalks in the broad wheat and barley fields were warins above tho shallow waters that cov ered them. All thoughts of producing: a ; vivp tni season are abandoned. The farmers of the Wabash Imttoms, who own their lands, have grown rich within the last few years, and are as able as any community in the country to sustain such a calamity without suflering. There are, however, among them, many poor renters to whom the loss of a crop will bring suffering and embarrassment. The loss to the trade and wealth of this portion of the country will be .felt in next year's bus iness. - ..... These wide, rich bottoms , which yieia such stores of food, and contribute so largely to our exports, will be barren and desolate wastes this summer. Those who ordinarily supplied o many mouths by their labor, wilt themselves seek food this year from others. The amonnt of the" loss is inclaculable. The amount of sugar destrojed by the inundation in Louisiana, is estimated at 50,OCO hogsheads worth $3,000,000. The cotton destroyed by the overflow on the banks of the Mississippi, it is said, will be 100X00 liales. whose value would probably ha S t.OOO.fX. The tlestrnc tion in Wabash valley from the overflow of that river and its tributaries will be eqnal.it is said, to the losses in these two crops on the Mississippi.
