Tho meeting will be conducted by laymen, and all are cordially invited to attend. It will continue throughout this week at the same palce and the sara hour each day. 05-A traveler from Boston to Ne braska, sijs, there is one great string of prayer meetings in operation from the seaboard to Omaha city, in Nebraska, so that whenever a Christian traveler stoped to spend the evening, he could find a crowded prayer meeting across the entire breadth of our vast republic. fcirWe refer our readers to the card l&e local column of Mrs. Webb's i. in Boarding House, on tho corner of First sittd VTalnut streets. We have known the lady for many years, and can assure all whomay seek a home with her, that they will find a pleasant and amiable bostes3 and a most excellent housekeeper. The tobacco sold in Louisville goes to the lakes and the Eastern markets by canals and railroads. It can be chipped from this city to the same points for about tha same'e? less freights. 'The Promising loang Attorney." The Vincennes Gazette retracts the scur rilous imputations upon the character of a promising young attorney" of Evansville, which it gave currency to some weeks since, and says "tho story originated in a joke, played off upon him by some of his waggish friends. The story has travelled until it haa become exaggerated beyoud ail probability .r Deep and lasting injury is dono to the character and future fortunes of a young man by tho wanton aud thoughtless circulation of such reports. The editors of the Gazette have we should think suffered too sensibly from personal scandal circulated by tho rev-klcss conductor of a pre?, whoso chief weapon is ow, personal abnso to Indulge, themselves, n like offiences towards others.
